Seguso appeals as the class runner at Tamworth (Fri)

3 minute read

While home town training ace Cody Morgan typically provides several favourites throughout Friday’s in-depth Tamworth TAB meeting, Dubbo’s Brett Robb offers value and promise.

Both trainers are having highly productive seasons and will be prominent in the upcoming Newhaven Park Country Championships that open with the Tuncurry-Forster leg on Sunday.

The Tamworth leg is on 26th February where Cody's Seguso ($3.70 favourite on TAB) is likely targeted, as the Moonee Valley winner and Caulfield placegetter represents the class in Friday's Country Championships H&NWRA Preview, 1200m.

Along with Cameron Crockett's talented contender Mr Hussill ($6), beaten less than two lengths by Art Cadeau in the 2021 The Kosciuszko.

Cody Morgan's promising gelding Satan Chicken, who won a Tamworth maiden at $1.35, is the $2.90 favourite but not as prohibitive from a wide draw in the following race, progressing to the Class 1, Shay Brennan 1200m against last start Brett Cavanough and Craig Martin maiden winners.

Brett Robb's consistent four runners, former Kody Nestor-trained filly D'Arpano looks the most progressive at $6 into the Peel Valley Tyres Class 3, 1000m.

A $50,000 Brazen Beau Magic Millions yearling purchase, D'Arpano transferred to Robb when Nestor retired from training and she clocked a brilliant 0.56.8 secs winning a Dubbo maiden last prep in October and was just as impressive winning at Bathurst.

She is certain to be primed resuming as she has fresh form and significantly stable jockey Clayton Gallagher will ride her a kilo over on 56kg.

At present Tamworth is a Good 4 in fine weather with 31 degrees forecast for raceday.
