Ciaron Maher and David Eustace’s Grand Promenade and Perth Cup runner-up Stafford’s Lad headline nominations for Saturday’s $127,250 Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes (2600m) at Morphettville.
Grand Promenade finished 14th behind Gold Trip in the Melbourne Cup and resumed running fourth behind Right You Are at Sandown earlier this month and is among early Adelaide Cup nominations alongside stablemate Persan.
Adelaide Cup bound Stafford's Lad finished second in the 2400m Group 2 Perth Cup in January before running seventh in the Ascot Mile last time out.
2020 Adelaide Cup winning trainer Danny O'Brien has nominated Saracen Knight for the feature, the European import set to resume following his Group 2 Herbert Power win at Caulfield back in October.
Likewise Matt Cumani has Team Captain set to resume in the Lord Reims who hasn't raced since running second in the Sandown Cup behind Gin Martini at the back end of the spring.
Anthony and Sam Freedman have import Glentaneous among the 23 nominations.
One notable absentee was 2021 Adelaide Cup favourite Tralee Rose who has been retired after she disappointed in the Premier's Plate first-up.
