Australia's leading Group 1 jockey James Mcdonald will be free to participate on the day that boasts more other Group 1 races than any other after having a favourable result at a Racing NSW appeals hearing on Monday.

McDonald appealed against the severity of a six-meeting careless riding suspension incurred at Randwick on Wednesday, with the panel slicing two meetings off the ban.

It paves the way for McDonald to take the ride on Cylinder, who is favourite for the $5 million Golden Slipper, and maintain his association with Anamoe in the $1 million George Ryder Stakes.

McDonald is also booked to ride Lost And Running and Pericles, who are favourites for the Galaxy and Rosehill Guineas, while he will partner Hinged in the Ranvet Stakes.

McDonald, who leads he Australian Group 1 premiership with nine elite-level wins for the season, was outed for causing interference aboard Cholante on the way to a third placing.

Stewards took exception to McDonald shifting out at the winning post, which interfered with Look Only.

McDonald pleaded guilty to the charge, which was only his second careless riding suspension in the past two years.
