Gifted but injury-plagued sprinter Clairvoyance has resumed work after a long injury layoff and trainer Darren McAuliffe remains optimistic the five-year-old can make it back to racing.

Clairvoyance, a winner of seven races from 11 starts and over half a million dollars in prizemoney, suffered a fractured pelvis 12-months ago and her racing career looked all but over.

"She's happy and healthy and been in the paddock for a fair while," Darren Mcauliffe told The Races WA.

"We will have to take our time with her to get her up and ready, but yeah, I'm really happy with her.

"I haven't really got a programme mapped out, the horse will tell me, just tick a few boxes along the way.

"We'll go along slowly and all things going well we'll get to the races in about 3 ½ months.

"Belmont will be where she resumes I imagine; she's never gone any good at Ascot.

"Even though she has won a heap of races there, for whatever reason we've never really gone around Ascot.

"Belmont will be where she resumes if we get that far.

"It's just nice to have her back in the stable and back in work."

Since she burst onto the scene with blistering wins in her opening four races in 2020, Clairvoyance has taken McAuliffe and her group of owners on an emotional roller coaster ride.

Their patience and resolved tested for the first time when soon after recording her fourth consecutive victory at Ascot she suffered a career-threatening knee injury.

That setback caused her to sit on the sidelines for six months, but no sooner had she recovered when she was struck down again, on this occasion for 10-months after colic surgery.

McAuliffe feared the worst after Clairvoyance's pelvic setback, but never at any stage did he question her courage and resilience to get back.

"You can always come back, everyone told me that and the vets indicated that," McAuliffe said.

"But she just had so many bumps along the way and I've been through the mill so much with her.

"Her knee then she had colic and we had to have time to get through that.

"We've spoken to a few vets and have had a good look over her.

"Everyone is happy to sign off and let her go back to work.

"She's happy and healthy and we'll see how she goes.

"There is no guarantee, but I can't see anything that will stop her at the moment.

"There's no reason not to give her another prep, she's in great health.

"She means the world to me."

McAuliffe dreams of getting Clairvoyance back to the heights she scaled in last year's Pinjarra Classic.

In a dominant one-act affair, Clairvoyance broke a 22-year 1300m track record after defeating Coming Around by 4 ¼ lengths.

"I think I've scaled Mount Everest with her a couple of times," McAuliffe said.

"What we did in Pinjarra after what she had been through before was amazing.

"If we even get her back to the races and win a race that will be crazy."
