Racecourse : Devonport (Australia).
Racecourse : Devonport (Australia).

The first of the day has an UPDATED scheduled time of 12:25.

R1 Sheridan Construction & Renovations Bm72 Hcp, 1150m

HOT RELATION (6) looks primed to run a big race for his new stable on the back of two impressive trials. GEE GEE ALS PRINCE (1) has been up for a long time but continues to race well and without much luck. His synthetic record is very good. Drawn perfectly and should box seat behind the likely leader COPPER CHARM (3) who fell in when he resumed a fortnight ago. She was afforded every hope that day but she's sure to improve off that run. QUICKEN UP (5) and POWER MAGNUM (4) were both a bit one-paced when they finished midfield behind Sunshine Moshe two weeks back. GEE GEE TRUE STORY (2) is on a 7-day back up from Hobart when he battled on evenly after a wide run. He doesn't boast a great record on the synthetic.

Staking Strategy: The two recent trials of Hot Relation (6) give every indication that he will acquit himself very well for his new stable 4 units to win HOT RELATION (6)

R2 Ladbrokes Communities Maiden, 1150m

SAKURA HIME (8) can ping straight to the lead and go all the way here. At her one and only try on the synthetic she was gallant in defeat last year behind the above-average Cornelian Bay. FURTHER SHE GOES (7) made good ground here a fortnight ago after a long layoff, albeit it was a race where the closers were entitled to do so. Might be able to race handier in this smaller field. MADJACK (5) should get the right run from a kind draw. He's had market support on occasions throughout his career but hasn't delivered to this point. Trialled twice in preparation for this. KREGLINGER (4) has had excuses at all of his three starts. First up today with blinkers off from the outside gate, presumably he settles in the second half of the field and has last crack. Next best is the unraced 2YO ALPINE VISTA (10) who won a trial here recently in slow time. BAHIA BAY (2) resumes for a new stable and has drawn the rail to help his claims. FIGHTING FUZZ (3) has blinkers for the first time and is a big market watch on debut.

Staking Strategy: Sakura Hime (8) is around her right price should lead and prove hard run down. Kreglinger (4) can get over the top of them if they overdo it in front 2 units to win SAKURA HIME (8) and 1 unit to win KREGLINGER (4)

R3 The Stables At Spreyton Maiden, 1150m

GEEGEES CITY BOY (3) did a huge job to finish as close he did last start. He covered a stack of ground from a wide gate and was very brave to finish within two lengths of the winner. DUNCANNON (2) contested the same race as a firm favorite, he ran well but was given every chance. SHE PLAYS GAMES (8) makes her Tasmanian debut. She has early gate speed and gets the right run here from the inside alley, her form looks good enough to be more than competitive. The synthetic though is an unknown for her. ROHZHAE (5) is always thereabouts but does find it hard to break through. AUSSIE BLACK (1) is resuming with blinkers on, can sit close to the pace and is a wider first four chance. The same goes for ZECOUGAR (9) and the 2YO MISS KEEDS (10).

Staking Strategy: Can make a case for several of the runners. Geegees City Boy (3) simply covered too much ground last start. She Plays Games (8) must be respected on her mainland form . Duncannon (2) can win but is too short. 2 units to win GEEGEES CITY BOY (3) and 1 unit to win SHE PLAYS GAMES (8)

R4 Goodstone Group Mdn/cl1, 1650m

BELLANIVE (13) has been freshened and is back in distance from her last luckless effort on the synthetic a month ago behind Blonde Suspect. She arguably should have won that day. HEWIE (10) is another maiden horse with strong claims. He has also had a month's break since finishing alongside the in form and impressive Lady Vuitton. Most likely he will settle back though and will need some luck in the capacity field. DOONICAN (3) went back from a wide gate last outing and found the line soundly. A better draw here enhances his chances. DUTCH ACTION (9) run was better than it looks at Hobart a week ago and this is a slightly easier assignment. BLONDE SUSPECT (2) form is good and expect him to be closing strongly late as per usual. HELLFIRE EAGLE (5) ran well first up a fortnight ago. He is drawn to advantage and is in the mix.

Staking Strategy: Not a heap between my top two picks Bellanive (13) and Hewie (10) , can back them both . Doonican (3) will park closer today and expect him to be in the finish. 3 units to win BELLANIVE (13) and HEWIE (10). 1 unit to win DOONICAN (3)

R5 Kevin Sharkie Class 1 Hcp, 1150m

TURK BOY (2) had excuses last start behind Muscle Up pulling up with a poor recovery and he also failed to handle the soft going. Has a tricky gate to contend with here but he is clearly the one they have to beat. SEYDOUX (8) was heavily backed here a month ago and got the job done. She has the plum draw again and expect her to be right in the finish. BELPINE MISS (6) hit the line better than anything behind Far Away Hit here a fortnight ago. It was a slowly run race and her effort was full of merit. Maps to sit midfield rail, just needs the breaks at the right time. CHORIZAMA (1) drawn awkwardly but there does look to be a stack of pace. Ideally can follow Turk Boy across and slot in with cover. His run behind Alvarinho two starts back in Hobart was very good. Next best MISIRLOU (7) and VOLKANOVSKI (4).

Staking Strategy: Turk Boy (2) was a complete forgive run last start and can bounce back today on his preferred surface. Belpine Miss (6) represents some value 3 units to win TURK BOY (2) and 1 unit to win BELPINE MISS (6)

R6 Tasmanian Horse Transport Bm60 Hcp, 1150m

CORNELIAN BAY (1) is a promising type resuming off a couple of very good trials. He is two from two first up, he races well here and looks set to run very well. FAR AWAY HIT (6) did have every chance a fortnight ago when she notched up her second win but the time stacked up well and she's a good hope again. On the same day TILTHEREWARSYOU (7) ran well behind the in form Sunshine Moshe. Granted he did have all the favours in the run but his effort indicated he's close to his best again. FEISTY LION (5) raced well on the synthetic last season and he is the likely leader. He is on resumption today, has been to the trials and a forward showing wouldn't surprise. Next best the track specialist GEE GEES SO TRUE (2) and GEE GEE ROYBOY (9)

Staking Strategy: The market's identified the key players. Sticking with Cornelian Bay (1) who is showing considerable promise and a proven performer on the synthetic, his lead up trials have been very good 3 units to win CORNELIAN BAY (1)

R7 Carlton Draught Bm64 Hcp, 1650m

INCRIMINATE (1) is in a rich vein of form. Was only gathered in late by Mywordis at his most recent effort. He has drawn ideally and should lead comfortably again. The step back in journey is no concern. ALPINE BLAST (5) was the eye-catcher behind Silver Persuasion a fortnight ago. Three of his four career wins have been on the synthetic, maps perfectly and he'll be hard to hold out. BLUSHED (7) has been racing consistently this time in without winning. Presumably goes back to the rear today and rides for luck but will need some. MANCO MAN (4) can improve off his first-up effort. The 1650m will suit him better but possibly needs even further than the mile to perform at his best. SKILENDRA (3) was a forgivable run last start as the saddle shifted. She is a track specialist who should be ready to hit her peak. DARGO (6) will appreciate the step up to 1650m today but notably, he hasn't won for almost two years. EIGHT MARGARITAS (10) next best. ZAGAME (11) a very rough first four hope, gets a cheap run with no weight.

Staking Strategy: It's an open affair and nothing would really shock. No knock on Incriminate (1) but will bet around him at the price 2 units to win ALPINE BLAST (5) . 1 unit to win BLUSHED (7) and SKILENDRA (3)

R8 Thai Imperial Bm60 Hcp, 1350m

SQUARE DONUT (3) has had two recent trials in preparation for this. He has drawn perfectly, gets the run of the race and should prove hard to hold out. RING OF HONOUR (1) is coming off a month's break. The drop back to 1350m suits and he'll be hitting the line. SUNSHINE MOSHE(2) is rock hard fit and brings terrific form coming off back-to-back wins. His challenge today is the outside alley from the chute. He will need the breaks to go his way. SILVER PERSUASION (9) comes off a victory in much the same company a fortnight ago. Everything did pan out for her on that occasion but she gets a similar set-up today so must respect. GEE GEES JENNIA (8) next best. DAWN EAGLE (12) and NEEDS REMEMBERING (13) are in contention if they gain a start.

Staking Strategy: I'm opposing the favorite Silver Persuasion (9) at her early quote. Square Donut (3) and Ring Of Honour (1) are good each way hopes . Will save on the in form Sunshine Moshe (2) 2 units to win SQUARE DONUT (3) and RING OF HONOUR (1). 1 unit to win SUNSHINE MOSHE (2)
