Won by In Secret last year, the two-year-old race at Scone boasts a classy honour roll.
For an off-season race restricted to two-year-old fillies, the Listed Woodlands Stakes has been an unlikely launch pad for the careers of some top brass horses and this year's renewal could again uncover a gem.
Libertini scored her first black-type win in the 2019 edition before going on to win multiple Group races and contest two editions of The Everest, while In Secret, who has developed into one of the best sprinters in the country, was successful last year.
Nine fillies, five of them debutantes, line up on Saturday hoping to add their name to the race's honour roll and trainer Mark Newnham views it as an ideal opportunity for first starter In My Dreams to snare some valuable black-type.
"It's hard to knock that back. I originally had her pencilled in to run at Warwick Farm next Wednesday, but I thought I'd enter in this race just to have a look," Newnham said.
"Having looked at the race, it's probably worth taking a shot.
"The two at the top of the market, one is coming out of stakes races (Saltaire) and the favourite (Dipsy Doodle) has put two wins together so it's certainly not a push over.
"But she's a filly with a good pedigree and if she can get a black-type placing early in her career it's a plus for her owners and she certainly has above-average ability."
Rival trainer Brad Widdup has a similar view with his first starter Hasty Honey.
A daughter of Epaulette, the filly has impressed Widdup at home and in her only trial and while he expects her to be better again next preparation, he won't be surprised to see her give the race a shake.
"I'm not frightened off, she has trialled up good enough," Widdup said.
"It's not an open two-year-old, it's a two-year-old fillies' race and if she happened to jag a first-four finish, I'd be more than happy and I do genuinely like this filly."
The experienced runners head betting with Dipsy Doodle a $2.70 favourite to give James Cummings back-to-back wins, ahead of last start Kindergarten Stakes placegetter Saltaire at $3.30.
In My Dreams is the most prominent of the first starters at $5.50 with Hasty Honey a $23 chance.
