The South Australian jockey has secured a ride at the Dubai Duty Free meeting at Curragh this weekend, one of the three biggest days on the Irish racing calendar.

Emily Finnegan, who has ridden 302 winners, has endured an injury plagued career since winning the 2017 Dux of the Racing SA Apprentice Academy and is excited for the opportunity to race in her homeland.

"I've been fortunate to pick up a ride for Tony Martin in the Ladies Derby on the Saturday,'' Finnegan said.

"When I came to surprise mum and dad, I ended up going out to Tony's to ride and on the first morning he asked me if I would be looking to ride (in races) while I am here.

"My answer was a quick 'yes' as I packed my boots and breeches in case,'' she said.

Finnegan said to be riding at such a prestigious meeting was a childhood dream and something for the family could cherish.

"I'm so excited,'' Finnegan said.

"This was a dream as a child, to ride at such a prestigious track, in front of family and friends.

"If I could win it would be a fairytale and bring so much joy to not only me but everyone around me.

"My grandad would be very proud looking down on me and it will be nice for everyone in Ireland to hear that the Finnegan name is still going strong in racing,'' she said.
