Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Narromine meeting. Selections based on a good to soft track.
Race 1 - 11:55AM MACQUARIE CLOTHING MAIDEN HANDICAP (800 METRES)
11. Carrana Anne is well worth another chance after having a tough run at Dubbo last time when favourite. Gave a sight first-up when leading and if she jumps with them gets every hope from an inside gate over the short trip.
Dangers: 8. Dendina is a big watch on debut after she trialled quite well behind Star Of Kings at Dubbo recently, showing speed to be up there and she wasn't knocked around late. Any support would be a good pointer. 10. Preternatural only had her first trial on Monday and it was on a heavy track finishing a couple of lengths behind Shelby Sixtysix at Goulburn. Another not pressured in their hitout and she could easily show up. 4. Heza Comet hasn't raced since a fair effort over this course back in November as a $10 chance. No public trials but has the soft gate and could show up.

Race 2 - 12:30PM NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
2. Zap Yah is a first starter in a strong yard and thought he trialled well against a well performed horse at Wellington a few weeks back. He's drawn wide but did race handy in the trial so expect he'll look to offset it. In a winnable race if he runs up to the trial he'll feature.
Dangers: 3. Little Ditty has race experience and while he was disappointing last time at Dubbo when well in the market. Didn't lead there so that might be the key. Placed a couple of times earlier in the year and will be fitter. Can lift. 1. Railway Avenue is another first starter and is worth keeping safe. Not a lot asked of him in his recent trial and any support would be significant. 7. Break Over led them up and was run down but held a placing at Gilgandra in his best run for a few starts. Could give a sight again.

Race 3 - 1:05PM GERONIMO FARM EQUIPMENT DUBBO MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES)
12. Hammoon Summer backs up after she was a beaten favourite at Dubbo last week but it was a much improved effort on her placing there a couple of weeks earlier. Up in trip and less depth here so expect she should go close.
Dangers: 8. Casual Mood is a first starter who showed some speed in her latest trial before being eased down late to run fourth. That was a month ago. In good hands and one to keep safe. 9. Painite has been a beaten favourite at her last two starts and didn't quite run on as expected at Forbes in the latest. Will likely gets back with the blinkers off and if the speed is there she can run on. 3.Clendinning has the wide gate to overcome but if he does get across he could be hard to beat. Best effort in eight starts to date last time at Dubbo and is worth including.
How to play it: Hammoon Summer WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 4 - 1:40PM QUBE AGRI BENCHMARK 66 HANDICAP (800 METRES)
4. Arimathea might get the last call at them in what looks a fast race. She tried hard at Bathurst a couple of months ago and comes here fresh. Has early speed to be just off them and can take holding out late.
Dangers: 2. Bring The Rabble was too quick at Coonabarabran over 900m a month ago. Is very hit and miss with four wins and no placings from eight starts. Will go forward and over the short trip can give them something to catch. 7. Best Side is ex-Nathan Doyle and his best would be good enough to hive him a show here. Disappointed in two runs back at the provincials so market a guide. 1. Just A Flash has been freshened up since failing in a much stronger sprint at Dubbo. Placed in good company at big odds before that and with the claim gets in well. Chance to show up.
How to play it: Arimathea E/W ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 5 - 2:15PM NARROMINE USMC CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)
5. Deelbreaka is very well placed here at his first run for the new stable. Narrowly beaten by a subsequent city winner two runs back then too strong in a Newcastle maiden. Mile should be no issue and effectively down in class.
Dangers: 12. Zest For Life made a promising start for her new stable when placed at Dubbo a few weeks ago. Step to the mile looks to suit her and if she's not too far off them at the 400m should be hard to hold out. 1. A Boy Named Soo won nicely at Bathurst before a solid enough effort at Forbes two weeks ago. Not far away at his last mile run and is one of the chances. 2. All Business has been thereabouts of late and will be better for the run at a mile at Gilgandra. Each-way.
How to play it: Deelbreaka WIN ($1.95 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 6 - 2:50PM AG AUTO SPARK COUNTRY BOOSTED BM58 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
4. Lipstick Lil looks to be running back into form with a nice effort at Dubbo last week in a similar race when back in trip. Fitter for it as she was a month between runs. Trained here and looks hard to beat if she runs up to last time.
Dangers: 2. Scorpius found form two starts back when scoring at Dubbo then backed it up coming from a long way off them when second there last week. Back up in trip now and sure to be running on strongly. 3. River Rocket disappointed last time at Forbes but previous couple of runs weren't too bad. Four of his six wins are at this sort of trip so he's capable of better. 8. Shikishi was big odds when leading and just failing at Bathurst two runs back then on speed and boxed away fairly at Forbes. Each-way claims.
How to play it: Lipstick Lil WIN ($3.90 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 7 - 3:25PM DOUGLAS EGAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
2. Fabulous Choice is racing in great form this prep and was narrowly denied a hat-trick at Moree last time out. Will go forward to a degree and with a little weight advantage has a good chance to turn the tables.
Dangers: 3. Ringside wasn't really fancied in betting at Moree but managed to defy them with an all the way win. Up 2.5kg but drawn well and if he can hold form he'll be a chance again. 1. Musical Affair drops in grade after a sound enough first-up performance at Scone two weeks ago. Much fitter for it and this is easier. Likely improver. 4. Sin City Belle did a good job to win two runs ago at Dubbo then drifter in betting when disappointing going up to a mile. Good case that she could bounce back.
How to play it: Fabulous Choice WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 8 - 4:05PM THREE RIVERS MACHINERY CASE IH NARROMINE CUP (1600 METRES)
1. Two Big Fari won't know himself in this company after largely racing in city grade for the last 12 months. Third-up he boxed on strongly when close up at Kensington. Only up 2.5kg for a big class drop and should be right on the speed. Best chance to break through for a while.
Dangers: 12. Toulon Factor hasn't been far away of late and hasn't carried this sort of weight for a while. Up to a mile now after running on from midfield at Gunnedah earlier in the week and the back up might suit. Go well. 10. Wild Rocket usually gets back but raced handy when narrowly beaten at Wellington three weeks ago. Won this race in 2021 and if she finds her best she's right in this. 3. Notabadidea ran second in that race at Wellington then led and gave a sight when fourth in the Forbes Cup. Will go forward and shouldn't be too far away at the finish.
How to play it: Two Big Fari WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).
Race 9 - 4:45PM NARROMINE SHIRE COUNCIL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
12. Dupenny couldn't have been more impressive breaking her maiden status with an easy win at Dubbo second-up. That backed up a nice return. Up in class but can race forward and if she gets any early luck she's a good chance.
Dangers: 1. Lord Bob led and faded at Newcastle last time but was able to control when scoring at Wyong before that. Claim helps and back to country grade could bounce back. 5. Skyforger settled back and powered home to win at Warren a month ago then right in the market when midfield at Moree. Forgive that and he's an each-way hope. 8. Injada hasn't raced since March and comes into this with two trials. Wasn't pushed behind a runaway trial winner at Muswellbrook. Goes forward and could surprise fresh.
