Nishitani pair looking to continue consistent form

3 minute read

Spreyton trainer Yassy Nishitani will take two runners to Hobart on Sunday, and he is expecting both runners to perform well.

Six-year-old gelding Hot Relation lines up in the Wellington Cricket Club BM68 Hcp over the 1600m.

Hot Relation has won three of four since resuming from a spell, to the delight of the trainer.

"I am very happy with him.

"He was beaten by a good horse the other day, but he did have some little excuses," said Yassy Nishitani .

The good horse Nishitani referred to was Sharma's Last, who defeated him 3/4 of a length in Devonport over 1350m on 6 August, and Sharma's Last has strengthened that form line by winning since.

Hot Relation is yet to win past 1400, but Nishitani is expecting the gelding to perform well.

"He is rock-hard fit so I'm really looking forward to going to the 1600m, barrier one can be a bit awkward in Hobart, sometimes middle draws are better," said the trainer.

Siggy Carr has ridden the gelding in all four runs this campaign and retains the ride on Sunday.

In the AYC Netball Club BM60 HCP over 2400m, Nishitani will saddle up Always A Winner, who gets the 1.5kg claim for Lizzie Annells.

The six-year-old gelding steps up in distance after being placed in his two runs this campaign.

"He had a good time off and has come back with good form," said the trainer.

"I think the 2400m should suit as he is a very good stayer.

"He has raced at 2400m before at Sandown (July 2022), and he probably went a bit too fast on a heavy track," Nishitani said about the effort when only defeated just over a length.

Sunday's nine-race card commences at 11:30 am and can be seen on Sky Racing 1 and TasracingTV.
