Winning Trainer: Chris Waller (stable rep Charlie Duckworth speaking)
On the horse: "He's a really good horse once he gets conditions to suit, he's only got a relatively short sharp sprint so actually I think being pocketed on the turn did him a world of good because he could just cuddle him that much longer but when he got to the outside he was terrific."
"We probably had him a bit wrong this time last year when we were trying to stretch him out, he's obviously a sharper horse than we gave him credit for, I know he's won over a mile and beyond but this is certainly his trip."
Plenty of options: "I'm not sure what Chris (Waller) has in store for him really but we'll just take today as it comes but he's been a great horse for the owners, a lot of them are Sydney based and they'll be roaring, I'm sure, from home but they usually get to the races and make their presence felt. It's great fun for all of them and obviously for Denise Martin and Star Thoroughbreds who have got a massive number of horses with us and continue to be very loyal to us."
On their Makybe Diva chances: "Princess Grace is obviously, as the market would suggest, the best of our three, she's terrific, this is her first go up to the mile in Australia but prior to arriving on these shores she'd never race under a mile so there's definitely improvement there."
"Osipenko he too will really be suited to Flemington, he'll be able to wind up, he's just a bit of a slow learner as it turns to coming to a spring and Francesco (Guardi) he's a horse that's going to need a lot further than this but it looks like a race with plenty of pace so it'll really suit him, watch him late."
Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil
Learning from last ride: "It's great to receive support from such a quality stable and I really put the trust in their instructions today, riding him the way I did, very patient, save his run for as late as possible, trusted he can sprint which he did really well today."
"I learnt a lot from riding him at Caulfield and obviously transpired into a good result today."
How the race unfolded: "It's always nice to draw in, it makes life a lot easier but I felt the instructions, combined with the horse being so versatile and easy to ride meant that he had every chance to win today and did that really well."
