Winning Trainer: Nick Ryan
On the ride: "12 out of 10, Blake. It was very frightening to watch actually, I thought it was going to be a train wreck, that's why he's the best in the business, he just waited, he didn't force the issue and the run came, Ranting doesn't really like hitting the front, didn't know he hit the front and he burst through."
"Blake (Shinn) and I were fierce competitors for a lot of years and he's one of the better jockeys I rode against and I just love legging him up on my horses. He does his homework, he does his form and it gives you great confidence."
Meaning of the win: "Great result, great owners, they're on course, the team's done a great job to present him the way he was tonight so we're really happy."
Where to now: "I don't know, it's a (benchmark) 84, 1200 (metres), he's obviously group performed, winning a Blue Sapphire, he's run in some big races… horses that haven't won for a long time, he might gain a lot of confidence from this and we won't raise the bar too high. He was purchased from Inglis Digital for 60 or 70 thousand and he's a city winner so the rest is a bonus from here."
Winning Jockey: Blake Shinn
Taking the gap: "It was pretty exciting, until then the heart was in the mouth and I'm sure that would've been for everyone who had an interest in him… the pace I thought would be frantic but with Najem Suhail not going as fast as everyone anticipated, it just took the speed out of the race and therefore they bunched right up, I was relying on a lot of luck from the 600 onwards. I had the horse to capitalise but it was one of them days that fortunately went our way today the gap came and he was too good."
