Lundholm's team ready to Rumble at Coonabarabran (Sunday)

3 minute read

Dubbo trainer Clint Lundholm heads to Sunday’s Coonabarabran Cup meeting with a strong team of runners headed by Watch Me Rumble in the $75,000 feature.

Watch Me Rumble backs up having finished fourth in the Coonamble Cup two weeks ago, and gets into the Coonabarabran Cup with 55 kilograms with Jake Pracey-Holmes taking the ride.

"She's only ever had the two runs over the mile and both of them in the Dubbo and Coonamble cups have been great," said Clint Lundholm.

"It's not an easy race on Sunday but she's hitting peak form so she's in there with a chance."

Knife's Edge is striving for a second straight Coonabarabran Cup, with Lundholm saying he is the horse to beat.

"He's a tough horse and won the race last year so naturally he'd be the one we have to beat," he said.

Lundholm will start Break Over in the opening event at Coonabarabran, with the trainer saying it's a "winnable race" for the gelding.

"We scratched him from a race at Narromine on Saturday primarily because the prizemoney is better at Coonabarabran," Lundholm said.

"I know he's a 15-start maiden but he's knocking on the door and the race looks like it will suit with barrier one as well."

Skyforger will contest the North West Equestrian Expo Handicap (1600m), and Lundholm said he looms as "my best chance of the day".

"He went super at Coonamble after having no luck in a TAB Highway in town," he said.

"He meets a similar field here to what he did at Coonamble so I'm expecting a good run."

Beauchamp and Obey will contest races five and six respectively and Lundholm thinks both can perform well.

"Beacuchamp is consistent and is always thereabouts, while steps out to 1400m for the first time but she's ticking over well," he said.

Miss Jennifer drops to 1200m in the final event of the day and while Lundholm concedes that is "not ideal for her", he thinks she can make an impact with "no weight on her back".

"I have a TAB Highway in mind for her so I'd like to see her run well," he said.
