Newly inducted Hall Of Fame trainer Terry Evans caused a boilover when his 6YO Hellova Night at $61, and paying $79 on the tot,e won the $50,000 Goodwood Handicap over 1100m in Hobart on Saturday.

"This time last year we were ready to tackle the best of them, but he went amiss and we just plodded along with him for a fair while, he goes really well first-up and I was quietly confident," Evans said.

"Mehmet (Ulucinar) had done a lot of homework and said this will happen, that will happen, they'll split at the 200m, and I'll dive through and win, and that's what he did."

Hellova Night defeated leader Galenus ($6) by a neck with Fake Magic ($26) running on for third. Favourite Bello Beau ($2.50) after sitting second, weakened to finish fourth.

Evans is unsure whether he will press on to the Newmarket Handicap in Launceston on 29 November.

Ulucinar went on to make it a double when the consistent Metaverse outstayed the opposition in the BM76 over 2200m.

Emotional win

Trainer Sarah Cotton, who doubles as the clerk of the course, was close to tears as she brought her 6YO Make A Decision ($4.80 – $2.50) back to scale after an impressive win at just his fourth start.

Make A Decision, whose record stands at two wins and two seconds, had his first race back in May 2021

"It's hard not to cry, to be honest.

"He means a lot to me, this horse. He's not an easy horse, but he has a lot of ability," Cotton said.

"It's a big team effort to get this horse here today, we'll just go through the grades, he's an exciting horse."

The win completed a race-to-race double for apprentice Taylor Johnstone.
