SA gallopers aiming for an interstate raid on Ballarat Cup Day

3 minute read

SOUTH Australian mare En Francais will be on the road again this week for Saturday’s $500,000 Ballarat Cup (2000m).

The Jake Stephens-trained mare has drawn perfectly in barrier four with Lachlan Neindorf making the trip over the border to again partner the mare.

Neindorf said she deserves another opportunity and could appreciate getting up in distance have raced over the mile her past four starts running second behind Thirsty Guest before just missing the Happy Trails Final on TAB Finals Day.

"I think she's a good chance over there,'' Neindorf said.

"We've all wanted to see her up in distance again, she dominated at Gawler that day at 1700m and she's been floating around in mile races.

"Hopefully she can travel over well this time and it's worth a crack being a half million dollar race,'' he said.

Michael Hickmott will be chasing more Victorian prizemoney with smart sprinter Taunting following his gritty win in the Apache Cat Classic at Cranbourne.

Taunting is faced with a wide gate in the $150,000 1100m feature and is marked a $3.70 favourite with tab.com.au.
