It wouldn't be a race meeting without the Glenn Stevenson/Codi Jordan combination finding the winners stall, and they did just that with lightly raced mare Luvher who took out the 1600m maiden/class 1 in Launceston on Friday night.

After being caught wide early, Jordan showed initiative to press forward and after grabbing the lead 200m out, Luvher staved off all challengers.

"She is extremely fit, and she will get a trip.

'Jordo' kept her out of trouble; it was ugly, but we won, trainer Glenn Stevenson said.

"We tried to be positive, but it looked like it was going to be a mess up front, it didn't really work out at all but she showed her ability tonight and hopefully stepping up in trip there's a few more wins," jockey Codi Jordan said.

The pair later made it a double for the night when Stone Cold Stunner ($6.50) made it six wins from her past seven starts, taking out the 1400m BM 76 Hcp.

Rubble is a bit of trouble

Trainer Siggy Carr describes Rubbleonthedouble as a difficult horse to ride, but it was the only horse you wanted to be on at the halfway mark in the BM60 Hcp (1200m).

While the heavily backed favourite Gallant Warriors  ($4.80 – $2) was back in the last couple, Rubbleonthedouble was enjoying a perfect trail on a good tempo up front.

"He's always had the ability there, and the writing was on the wall from his last start over 1100m when he worked home well.

"He's not an easy ride, as he proved, moving forward he's going to start stepping up in the distance a little bit now," Carr said.

Ridden by apprentice Taylor Johnstone, Rubbleonthedouble was a solid second pick in the market at $3.60; the favourite Gallant Warriors made some late ground to finish fifth.

Johnstone made it two for the night when Conumdrum ($5.00) scored a five-length win in the 2100m BM 64 Hcp.
