Sir Ming heads up Seib’s string at Goulburn (Thurs)

Goulburn trainer Danielle Seib has started the calendar year in smart style with a highlight result being a winning double on her home track a fortnight ago.

The progressive Sir Ming ($2 favourite on TAB) was one half of the double dollar collect that day.

Seib turns him out on Thursday in Race 7, the Goulburn Motor Group B66 Handicap (1300m) confident of further financing for connections.

"Sir Ming has been great this preparation!

"His two Highway runs were very good and from the low draw he can find the front again and repeat the result from last time," Seib said.

Apprentice Benjamin Osmond  takes the sit on Thursday and if Sir Ming form keeps trending up, Seib sees a Country Championships qualifier as a crack worth having.

"If all goes to plan on Thursday Sir Ming probably gets the benchmark needed to gain a start.

"He's a real confidence horse and although it would be a huge class rise, he is a horse with the ability to surprise in that race."

Seib has five acceptors at Thursday's tablelands meeting, three of them in Race 6, The Goulpro Country Boosted B58 Hcp over 1600m.

With a likely re-route for Kenichi ($5.50) and Denarau ($5) into Saturday's TAB Highway Seib will have Chaotic Beauty ($9) flying the stable flag at the mile.

"Chaotic Beauty was terrific last start at Goulburn behind Associate. She has been racing well her last couple back onto bigger tracks.

"This looks a similar race and after the claim she looks well placed to get her fourth career win."

The stable also sees plenty of results potential in its remaining Goulburn aspirant, Eight Of A Kind ($3.60). The sparingly raced mare is first-up in the quaddie closer, the Kirks Bridge Farm F&M B58 Handicap over 1000m.

Seib believes her recent home track trial was a nice pointer for her upcoming campaign.

"She won first-up last time over a 1000m albeit in maiden grade. Her trial was very, very good after being allowed to find her feet early but hit the line with purpose.

"She does have some weight on Thursday to contend with but she has some class on her side and expect her to be hard to beat."

Seib says the Newhaven Park Country Championships series is not completely out of the question for some of Sir Ming's stablemates.

"Eight Of A Kind and Associate will both need luck to gain a start with their benchmarks. If they miss the Moruya qualifier we will map a route to the Wild Card for both of them via a suitable race to gain a few benchmark points."

Goulburn has eight races to be run and won on Thursday on a track currently rated a Soft 7, the opener timed to go at 1.05pm.
