Wonderful Rayray returns home for SA debut

3 minute read

Well-travelled galloper Wonderful Rayray makes a return home for his South Australian debut on the Parks at Morphettville on Saturday.

Wonderful Rayray  was bred by Peter Toole at Ducatoon Park and failed to make his reserve at the 2020 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale.

He found himself in Queensland under the care of Steven O'Dea and Matthew Hoystead where he was unbeaten in two starts leading throughout to win an Eagle Farm maiden on debut before backing that up with a Sunshine Coast win last May.

He's now in SA with Matthew Seyers at Murray Bridge and drawn perfectly.

"He did a suspensory after his last run up there,'' Seyers said.

"He come down here for a bit of rehab, he's a four out of five roarer, he's got his issues, he's got 50 per cent air going in and it might be something that needs to be addressed.

"He won a jump out here quite well the other day, but he could be suspect.

"He's probably a false favourite but from the (barrier) two he can jump and dictate,'' he said.

Seyers has a two pronged attack in the race with in-form grey mare Yeelanna chasing her third win in succession.

"She's raced well and won on the parks previously,'' Seyers said.

"She's ticking all the boxes going in.

"We don't gallop her much, just keep her happy, she swims a lot and she's attacking the line really well,'' he said.
