Michael Hickmott is hoping Dyer’s stylish debut victory at Morphettville on Saturday is only the start of an exciting chapter for his partnership with the Richmond Football Club.

Dyer, named after Richmond legend Jack Dyer, is part-owned by Nathan Broad, Jack Graham and Liam Baker who have formed Punt Road Syndications, and shapes as a horse with a bright future.

Taken straight to the lead by Jess Eaton, Dyer showed plenty of fight to hold off Mesrour and follows on from their previous success with Braveman'sgame last September.

"It's the perfect start to his career,'' Eaton said of Dyer.

"The scary thing is he's not mentally or physically mature yet.

"There is a lot more to come, whether that's next start or when he makes it as a three-year-old, he's going to be a really nice horse,'' she said.

Michael Hickmott said Dyer was a horse who had taken the steps needed to make it as a racehorse in a short space of time.

"This horse is a ready made two-year-old type,'' Hickmott said.

"I knew he had some ability and they've got a result straight away,'' he said.

Gary and Dean Alexander had a welcome city winner when Angelic Appeal proved too strong early in the day while Tahnee Treasure make it three wins in success in the last race of the day when she came off a blistering tempo to come from last and win with Maggie Collett in the saddle.

At Port Lincoln on Friday it was a popular result in the Cup for John Dunn and Krystal Bishop claiming their first local feature with I Need A Drink and former local Rochelle Milnes in the saddle.

The win was the second leg of training double for the partnership.

Callan Murray took riding honours with a riding treble, while Sophie Logan also landed a double.
