The Doncaster Day meeting at Randwick will go ahead with Racing NSW stewards deeming the track to be safe for racing following a lengthy deliberation.

The course was smashed by 228mm of rain in the 24 hours leading into Saturday morning but despite the deluge, an initial race day inspection by officials found the majority of the track to be safe for racing, with the exception of a small section near the 1000m.

Stewards gave the area time to dry out and at around 7.45am (AEDT) on race morning, declared they were satisfied the track would stand up to ten-race card.

"Meeting to proceed on a Heavy 10," Racing NSW said via X, formerly known as twitter.

"Section near the 1000m is consistent with the rest of the track and is suitable to race."

The first day of The Championships boasts four Group 1 races, highlighted by the $4 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) and the $2 million ATC Australian Derby (2400m).
