Smart mare Seydoux made it two in a row and four wins from her past five starts with a dominant performance in the 1150m BM72 after a lovely front running ride by apprentice Lauryn Bingley in Devonport on Sunday.

One of three horses in the race trained by Adam Trinder, Seydoux was best backed, starting the $2.10 favourite.

Bingley rated the mare perfectly in front, kicking at the top of the straight and scoring by almost two lengths from her stablemate Gallant Warriors ($6), with Fake Magic ($19) third.

The win completed a winning double for Trinder.

"I got her as a tried horse, and she was quite light physically when she arrived. She went to the races for nine or 10 weeks and got the job done. This time, she spelled really well, let down, and got a bit of substance about her," Trinder said.

Seydoux took her record to 22 starts for eight wins and more than $170,000 in prize money.

The first half of Trinder's double arrived when Thoros Of Myr ($2.40) hunted down the tear-away leader Bluff Point to win the Class 1 (1009m).

Bluff Point ($4) set a hot tempo over the sprint trip, but Thoros Of Myr, who skipped home the last 600m in 34.97s, grabbed the lead late to win by 3/4 length.

Thoros Of Myr has only had five race starts and was first up since last July.

"He's an immature soft-boned type of horse, so we haven't been able to get the consistency of racing into him. We've just had trouble waiting for him to mature, but I thought that he really toughed it out there today," winning trainer Adam Trinder said.

"He's just been one of those horses that gets things wrong more than right. He's always been bullish, he's got good speed and can run good sectionals, we will continue to educate him and build his confidence."

Thoros of Myr was the second leg of a race-to-race double for apprentice Erica Byrne Burke after Flight Ready won the maiden/class 1 (1650m).

Co-trainer Leon Wells described him as a bit of a 'mental case', but Flight Ready was on his best behaviour on Sunday.

Suited by a solid pace, Flight Ready ($7) settled just off the pace before hooking around the leaders, straightening for home and winning by a 1/2 length from Havlicek ($7), with Kreglinger ($15), running on for third.

"He has run into a little bit of bad luck. He works a lot harder than he should. Today, there was plenty of pace, and Erica rode him a treat. She gave him the gun run, and there were no excuses," Wells said.

"He's quite a difficult horse to ride. He gets very keen, and his head carriage is very high, so he gets quite awkward through the run, but obviously, with the speed on today, he was able to relax," Byrne Burke said after the race.
