Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 17.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Warrnambool, Wyong, Mackay, Northam and Nowra.
WARRNAMBOOL: RACE 1 @ 11:05 AM
PRESSITA (4) strikes a winnable race here. Was a handy second over this track and trip two starts back before not being disgraced in town last time out. Has only missed the top four once in six starts and is drawn to get a gun run for Ford from gate one. Ready to break through against this lot. MISS CHECKONI (3) didn't shirk the task on debut when a closing second over this course and distance. Probably looking for a bit further now but can be in the finish. SARANDOS (5) showed enough in his first preparation to suggest he can be in the mix. DA NANG STAR (1) is impeccably bred and from a strong barn. Must be respected on debut. SYZYGY STARS (6) was impressive winning a recent Gosford trial and is a massive watch. Keep safe.

MACKAY: RACE 3 @ 1:23 PM
BEYOND REPROACH (7) has been threatening all campaign and had two near-missed here before the latest. Back from Townsville and he has the figures to take this out. MISHANI PATRIOT (4) was plain the latest back to a short sprint off a better effort and gets a key jockey switch to Wiggins. On a quick return and may surprise. GEOFFROY (6) is a former Victorian back after 117 days for the new yard. Gets the 2kg claim and is a market watch. MOUNT DUMARESQ (5) peaks and has a 4kg claim today. Just missed three-back and is back after 7-days.
SELECTIONS: Backing Beyond Reproach.
NORTHAM: RACE 6 @ 3:55 PM
GINGER BAKER (1) will enjoy the longer journey and rates well. Has impressed both starts back and will come hard. ONE FOR THE ROAD (3) won the Kalgoorlie Maiden first-up heavily-bet. The mile suits him as draws a low barrier. In a leading yard and can take the next step. REGUARDLESS (8) reaches peak fitness and was tracking well before the latest. Pike sticks suggesting she can bounce. WHAT ABOUT MOI (2) resumed in good order and then was out-graded after. He's good enough and keep very safe with the small claim.

NOWRA: RACE 7 @ 4:05 PM
ALPHA GO (3) had been threatening (including at 70 level this trip) before winning the 58 at Port Macquarie. His figures are very strong for this contest and McDougall's booking adds to the confidence. CATHAY (1) was okay first-up following a slow start. She's won second-up and is right up to this at best. Has the early speed to manage the sticky gate. FOXIE LA BELLE (6) peaks and is much better than the formline suggests. Was warming up late beaten 2.6L in town the latest and that gives him a winning chance. READY TO ROAM (2) has been a round the market in stronger provincial contests and finally gets a low gate. A player.
