Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 23.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Ascot, Doomben, Morphettville,Yarra Valley and Townsville.
RANDWICK: RACE 10 @ 6:10 PM
GRAVINA (9) was simply left with too much to do last start when ripping off some slick late sectionals. Surely settles closer this time and with even luck he is clearly the one to beat. QUANTICO (11) caught the eye fresh before breaking through for a good win at Rosehill last start. Rates highly off that win and if able to repeat he looms as a major threat. KINLOCH (13) was very good fresh behind Leo and looks much better suited in this event. Drawn soft and should be charging home. BELLUCI BABE (6) is back better than ever. Next best.
SELECTIONS: Gravina looks very hard to beat third up.

ASCOT: RACE 7 @ 4:25 PM
BRIGHT DIAMOND (12) is a model of consistency never missing a place in seven career starts. Is one from one over this sprint trip and is drawn to get some cover from gate five. Sure to go close if she runs up to the mark. WILCHINO (5) has a handy strike rate winning five from eight overall and is two from two over this track and trip. Can run a big race while fresh. MOOD SWINGS (4) has never missed a place in six attempts over this course and distance and is a must for the multiples. BOOMTASTIC (9) strips fitter third-up and can earn some minor money. VANE TEMPEST (1) next best with the 3kg weight relief.
SELECTIONS: Bright Diamond to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 3 @ 12:48 PM
SHAMATON (11) ran on and drew away late when scoring by one length last start at Eagle Farm over 1000m. In good form this campaign and peaking third up. Has good upside and can go on with it. ZINGALONG (3) kept chasing to finish fourth over 1000m at Eagle Farm first up, continuing the consistent form of last campaign. Blinkers go on for the first time and that can give him a lift. LYRICAL GIRL (8) is going well having placed at all three starts this time in. Speedy and can give a big sight again. WINSIDE (12) must be respected having won two from two this time in while PLATINUM EUROS (9) is capable of much better than the fresh effort.
SELECTIONS: Shamaton is progressive and can back-up the last-start win.
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 3 @ 1:41 PM
STAR OF CHAOS (3) is a smart filly who was well tried on debut behind Scorched Earth in the Magic Millions race at Murray Bridge. She won first-up this time around at Ballarat on the synthetic and led throughout to win at Geelong last time. She draws to lead and is the clear top pick. MONTEPULCIANO (1) can run a cheeky race fresh and will be better as he progresses over distance. MONA DREAM (2) was a Cranbourne winner three starts back and ran well behind Star Of Uma last time. BUBBLES MCGINTY (10) was a good winner back in class last time and was scratched from Friday for this. ARTFUL LIBBY (5) comes off two good wins at Port Lincoln and must be respected.
SELECTIONS: Star Of Chaos to win again.
YARRA VALLEY: RACE 4 @ 1:44 PM
RANMARD (1) looks well placed to return to winning ways. Two starts ago he just missed behind Aerovictory who has since won again which followed a close up effort in town behind the talented Prince Alexander. He wasn't far away in a race run in good time last start and looks hard to beat dropping to this grade. ROCKSTAR DREAMS (9) creates plenty of interest second up with the Blinkers going on. She's shown city grade ability in the past and sharp improvement can be expected. MAGNUS A GO GO (4) has been thereabouts recently in similar races and appeals each way. SPEED CUBE (7) resumes having shown good ability prior to spelling and looks capable of figuring fresh with natural improvement. SWIFT HIT (2) just missed in this grade last start at big odds and is worth including in the multiples up to 1200m.
SELECTIONS: Ranmard looks the one to beat.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 3 @ 3:06 PM
FUNKY MUSIC (3) was in a different class last time with a dominant win, settling well back before rounding up his rivals to score by 2 lengths over 1000m at this track. Overall form here is sound and will be hard to stop again. DIO D'ORO (2) re-unites with Krysten Swaffer after the pair combined to score over 1300m at this track last time. Will carry more weight but has a sound record at this distance with two wins and two placings from 10 runs and shapes as a key contender. BERNIE'S TIGER (7) is a last start winner scoring by 1.3 lengths over 1750m at Ewan. Obviously harder here but still has claims if runs up to his mark. AMMOUDI BAY (4) was in the placings last time over 1470m at Bowen and appears the next in line.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Funky Music.
