Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 8.

Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Caulfield, Ascot and Morphettville.

CAULFIELD: RACE 7 @ 3:35 PM

HORRIFYING (1) came home strongly to finish second by a head over 1700m at Flemington last time, just hanging away his chances over the last furlong or so. Big run having been forced a long way back from the wide draw there. Better draw now and Jamie Kah sticks - can get the job done. REDWOOD SHADOW (2) found the line strongly last time when third in the same race over 1700m at Flemington and was just second up there. He's got plenty of improvement to come. MY SQUEEZE LOUISE (10) found plenty on speed there and can make her own luck again. Can hardly ignore her. REUBER (4) has been around the mark and goes into the mix along with RED SANTA (5) who had plenty on a maiden field at Geelong when resuming. Tougher assignment but can measure up again.
SELECTIONS: Expecting Horrifying to make the most of a kinder draw this time.

ASCOT: RACE 7 @ 3:55 PM

MAROCCHINO (4) is flying at the moment and followed his Albany Cup win with a strong performance in a similar field here two weeks ago. Trip no issue and can win again. TRAP FOR FOOLS (2) is racing consistently again and that makes him dangerous. No match last time but gets a 2kg swing in his favour and he has claims. COME PLAY WITH ME (1) ran his best race for a long time when resuming in the same event and he'll be the one with more improvement. MACKENZIE BROOKE (6) and BIG SHOT PADDY (5) next best.
SELECTIONS: Marocchino to win. Trifecta 4-1,2,5,6/1,2,5,6.

MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 5 @ 2:00 PM

APPALACHIAN (7) won't be one of those. He charged home from last a month ago. Has trialled since then and looks well set up in a race of this nature. LOAD AND GO (6) has not done much wrong to date. He will show speed and is drawn to not have to work too hard. BUTTON EXPRESS (5) only had one run last time in. Heading over from Melbourne makes her a big watch. LADY PAVLI CHENKO (12) has not won for a while. She gets the blinkers on now so take note. BRAZEN BRANDO (4) is never far away but doesn't win often.
SELECTIONS: Want to back Appalachian.
