Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Corowa, Gosford, Geelong, Pakenham, Townsville, Geraldton & Penola.

Gosford: Race 6 @ 4:20pm

Fabrizio will do what he does best. ROMAN SON should be ready to show best fourth-up. Effort in the Summer Cup last start off a moderate speed was full of merit. Fitter for that run over a staying trip and has been well backed in current markets. Hard to beat. SIR PLUSH is a warhorse. Third straight week of racing but he appears to relish it. Led and showed good ticker when beaten a narrow margin by the fancied Gresham most recently. Furthest he's been is a mile so this will test however the stable are firing and this horse loves a fight. Must respect. FABRIZIO is awhile between wins but certainly up to a race like this. Down the track in the Villiers last start. Freshened-up and trialled nicely since. Will give a sight. SELECTIONS: Roman Son for the win.

Corowa: Race 6 @ 1:10pm

Murrawee and Coco Couture the pacesetters. ILLOURA showed good improvement on her first up outing when second at Echuca a fortnight ago. Fitter again and is expected to take beating third up. COCO COUTURE drops back in grade after an on pace second at this course and distance. Claim helps offset the weight rise nicely. Appeals from barrier 1. DELIVERED resumes. Was racing well prior to a break. First up record is strong. SELECTIONS: Backing Illoura.

Townsville: Race 2 @ 3:28pm (AEDT)

Expecting Mustarrid to lead them. MUSTARRID should find this easier than his last start and had won two of his previous three. Expect he will be able to dictate the pace in the small field and that sees him tough to run down. GOWAY GIRL charged home from the tail for a last-stride win last outing. The penny may have dropped now. Could go on with it. CARLINO'S WAY worked home to run second when resuming. Can progress up to the mile second up. SELECTIONS: Mustarrid to control the pace and win.

Pakenham: Race 1 @ 6:00pm

No clear leader in the small field. ANTAH impressed when running on well for an easy 3L win when resuming at this course. The jump up to the mile should suit and he is putting together a good record. Has won three in a row now and can add another. VELLASTAR made some ground at Caulfield last start in an effort that suggested the longer distance will suit. Won at Warrnambool before that so the return to this level suits. MR CLARIFY resumes. Has only raced in the city since arriving from NZ. Go well at this grade. SELECTIONS: Antah to win again.

Gosford Quarries Gold Cup (LR)

Age: 3yo and up WT: 54.0kg Type: OPEN

Bjorn Baker-trained gelding Sir Plush broke through for his first win since taking out an Open Handicap (1400m) at Randwick in October 2017, this becoming his eighth win in 36 starts and his first at stakes level. He settled nicely in fourth place, tracking a solid tempo before improving (under riding) between runners at the home turn. He then continued to run on well to grab a solid, but narrow, win at the post having received a good ride by Glyn Schofield. Satono Rasen raced outside the leader (Fabrizio) at a good tempo, got to the front shortly after turning for home and then battled strongly for (half-head) second after working most of the way. Fabrizio went to the front, set a solid pace and did well under his 59kg in holding on to take third. The favourite, Roman Son, settled back in ninth place, moved up (under riding) from the 600m, was under pressure at the home turn but responded in the latter stages, running on for (1.7 lengths) fourth.
