Today’s Horse Racing Tips – February 24

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on February 24.

Hawkesbury
Hawkesbury

A number of TAB meetings are held across Australia this Sunday, below are our best bets.

Hawkesbury: Race 7 @ 4:40pm

SAFADO (5) won easily FU and then just missed behind Above and Beyond on the slow at Canterbury again heavily-backed. Should manage the extra 150m and gets the weight drop. The one to beat. JUVENTUS (7) brings strong figures and peaks following the 70 placing at Warwick Farm. A wet track suits and JMac sticking is a plus. Go close with the weight relief. SPRING CHARLIE (1) presents FU with Shinn on first time. Has won 5/7 and the two trials in preparation for this. Promising and will come back further improved. A wet track should be okay. ANGEL OF TRUTH (4) made the hat-trick FU on the slow running another good figure. The gate mightn’t bother so much if it’s wet, and fitter he has to be considered. SELECTIONS: #5 Safado has the form and the promise.

Balaklava: Race 4 @ 3:25pm

EQUAL LOVE (5) is a filly taking on the mares here and looks the one to beat. Fitter for a trial win and the stable is flying. Expected to take catching. FLO JO SNIP (1) was an effortless last start winner in NSW. Among a bunch of horses campaigning in SA from the stable and this mare rates very well here. Watch closely. SPARKLING CURRENCY (4) was a winner in slightly easier when resuming but has upside and rates a definite each way hope. JUST PEGGY (6) is next best. SELECTIONS: Keen on #5 Equal Love.

Launceston: Race 7 @ 5:00pm
ROCK DOVE (3) is the one to beat on her lead up run. Godolphin filly with the stable brimming with confidence she could win the Strutt Stakes and she did comfortably. The one to beat again here at the same trip. GLASS WARRIOR (2) was game in defeat against the boys in the Tassie Derby two days earlier when runner up behind another Godolphin runner. back to the fillies here she looms as a serious threat again. OUR LONG SALI (1) was runner up in the Strutt and looks a genuine contender again. TRUE MAGIC (5) was placed in the same race and if nothing else honest. A fair away away in fourth was SHADY HUSTLE (4) who could sneak a place here. SELECTIONS: Rock Dove #3 the one to beat again.

Pinjarra: Race 7 @ 7:25pm
VITAL SILVER (9) is in career best form and worth following up here. Freshened for this and drops to the minimum. Has Pike aboard for the first time and will take catching. REBEL KING (1) is a Listed winner last time out and looks a huge danger. A couple of kilos more but no tougher and expected to go close. ACHERNAR STAR (2) is resuming but is worth watching closely. Fitter for a trial and goes very well fresh. MR MOTOWN (3) was a fresh up winner and can only be fitter. SELECTIONS: Vital Silver #9 looks hard to beat with the light weight.

Coffs Harbour: Race 5 @ 4:25pm

TARBERT (2) has been in great form and looks very well placed here. Got home hard after a slow start to score in open class latest and with a great record at the course and at the distance will be in the finish here. I WANNA BE A JEEP (1) was too good and broke through for an overdue win in the Walcha Cup latest. More weight here but racing consistent and from the low draw will go close again. FERNIEHIRST (3) is fitter for a good return when runner up. Just missed behind Tarbert and freshened since. One of the leading chances. VALBEATA (7) rates well on best and looks a strong chance for the multiples. DANTGA (4) next best. SELECTIONS: Keen on Tarbert again.
