Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on March 21.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Albury, Newcastle, Donald, Pakenham, Mackay & Geraldton.
Newcastle: Race 8 @ 4:55pm
Pace galore in the feature, with Happy Mo, Golden Tycoon and Americana Magic leading the charge. Kris Lees holds the trumps, headed by his filly EVALINA (13) who showed a wonderful turn of foot last start when she scored over 1150m at the Kensington track. Was beaten narrowly in the Listed Reginald Allen as a juvenile so she has that touch of class required to beat the older horses. Stablemate KANAVU (12) overcame adversity to win narrowly over this distance at Wyong last time out. Has plenty of room for improvement at just his fifth start today - do not underestimate. FORTIFICATION (7) was game last start, leading all the way to salute over this distance at Kembla. Promising three-year-old who has been lumping big weights and will appreciate a bit of relief today. GOLDEN TYCOON (9) and AMERICANA MAGIC (5) have claims also. SELECTIONS: #13 Evalina is very smart and can go through to the big one at Randwick.

Donald: Race 2 @ 2:00pm
ACCORDINGLY (12) has improved both runs and looks well suited in this line-up. Draws low and the in-form Childs is a positive booking. HIGHLY SKILLED (8) was favourite FU and hit the line well. Has more to give and looks a strong hope on the 8-day return. CONGRATULATE (13) draws the rail and the ex Weir filly should be ready to show her best for the new yard. She had more backing the latest and got closer. Stablemate WEALTHY WOLF ran home okay to place on debut and expect quick improvement. SELECTIONS: Looks a nice race for # 12 Accordingly.
Mackay: Race 3 @ 3:50pm
BARBADOS STORM (2) improved sharply winning here last start. Fitter he clearly rates to repeat suited by the rise in trip and with course specialist Wiggins sticking. SHADOW VISION (6) was slow away FU but hit the line okay. He’s placed 3/4 2U and gets the weight drop over a suitable distance. DON'T WE LOVE IT (1) won the 75 well at Rocky and the mile is no worry. FABULOUS CHILD (5) will be better for the two runs back and should be ready to show her best. SELECTIONS Barbados Storm can win again.
Albury: Race 5 @ 4:05pm
Good early pressure from Pastiche, Athonis and Cha Cha King. FIREMAN SAM I AM (1) showed nice improvement second up last start when runner-up over this distance at the Sapphire Coast. Has recorded two wins from four third-up runs in the past so expect him to be ready to peak now. NOBLE DESCENT (5) made it two wins from his last four runs when he comfortably took out the Corowa Cup last time out over this distance. Proven open class miler who drops 0.5kgs today so will be very tough to beat again. ATHONIS (7) was back in form last start when a game 2nd over 1375m at Cowra after leading. Very fit gelding who looks a strong lightweight hope. CHA CHA KING (4) battled on gamely in the Corowa Cup last start and should be about the money again. SELECTIONS: #1 Fireman Sam I Am is ideally placed and at nice odds in early markets - each-way bet to nothing.
Pakenham: Race 6 @ 8:30pm
ALEXANDRA DREAMING (1) is a promising filly who should run well here. Was an impressive debut winner then went straight into stakes class and was off the track throughout before fading out of it. Spelled and looks well placed here back in grade. LADY LOFT (6) is racing well and will take catching. CLASS APLENTY (3) next best in a wide open race. ZAMPERINI (8) has a nice alley and rates an each way chance.SELECTIONS: Keen on Alexander Dreaming.
