Today’s Horse Racing Tips – March 22

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on March 22.

Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Albury, Port Macquarie, Terang, Moonee Valley, Bowen & Toowoomba.

Albury: Race 3 @ 2.25pm

On-pacer Run Hoff Run has drawn well and should tow them along at a decent clip. WESTHAM (4) made it two in a row when he scored comfortably over this distance at Bendigo a couple of starts back. Struggled in town last time but back in this company looks a winning hope. LARMOUR (7) followed a tidy Canberra win over 2000m two runs back with a very close 2nd over the mile at Corowa last time out where she hit the line hard. Big step up in trip today but her Canberra win suggests the staying trip will suit. DOOGANS RISE (1) backs up seven days after dropping out to finish down the track over 2040m at Moonee Valley. Expect a better run today out to this distance. SHINSEKI (3) and RUN HOFF RUN (5) are both in form and cannot be overlooked in a competitive race. SELECTIONS: #4 Westham to return to the winner's list.

Port Macquarie: Race 3 @ 2.45pm

A cracking tempo looks certain as Tornado Of Souls, Sheoak, Bachelor and Cheat'm all possess a stack of early pace. POWER RUSH (5) returned from a 21-week spell last start with a closing 2nd over 900m at Scone, although no match for today's rival Tornado Of Souls. Rated highly when she scored over this trip at Wyong second up last prep. Has the coveted inside gate and can turn the tables over this more favourable distance. TORNADO OF SOULS (2) is the obvious danger after leading all the way and giving nothing else a chance at Scone last time. Very fit now after three runs back - the last 100m will be his biggest issue. NERETVA (4) recorded back-to-back barnstorming wins over six furlongs at this track then was ridden forward last time and failed to flatter. Has placed 8/14 at today's trip without winning - will be charging home. PATRIOT (3) is capable of sprinting well fresh, as is CHEAT'M (6) who won a recent trial. SELECTIONS: Confident #5 Power Rush can turn the tables today.

Terang: Race 4 @ 3:00pm

PURE EXCELERATION (7) is fitter for two runs back and placed at both. Rates on top here and expected to go close. FREESTYLER (5) has been thereabouts and is long overdue for a win. Tricky draw but ratings put him right in this. MISS TWENTY TWENTY (11) turned in a better effort last time and is among the chances if runs up to that again. BLAZING HARADA (1) has been thereabouts and in the mix from a good draw. TRICK'N THE HOST (4) is fitter and can improve into the finish here. SELECTIONS Keen on Pure Exceleration breaking through.

Bowen: Race 7 @ 6:20pm

LITTLE HUNTER (7) can win this at best and will be better for the two runs back. Gets 2 x winning hoop Stanley for the apprentice and expect him to take beating. ARNO BAY (1) has placed the last three and will be improved off the resumption. He has more to give and can be right in the photo with a good ride. FINE ‘N’ DEVINE was good at Cairns two back and may be worth another chance drawn handy. CARLINO'S WAY (3) peaks and is in the mix in a touch easier. SELECTIONS: Backing #7 Little Hunter and will cover in quinellas.

Toowoomba: Race 3 @ 7:45pm

MAIDENOVER (9) has just missed both runs back and was wide at the Sunshine Coast the latest. Gets the low gate today and the rise in trip suits. Very tough to roll. CRUDE OIL (3) ran into a placing in stronger at Doomben improving at his second run this preparation. Draws handy and can keep improving. BULLANG (1) resumes and gets the blinkers first time. Rates well and may be more forward this time around.SELECTIONS: #9 Maidenhead is well-placed to be winning.
