Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on May 17.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Goulburn, Grafton, Cranbourne, Ballarat, Ipswich & Port Augusta.
Ballarat: Race 7 @ 4:00pm
There are a number who race handy. DUNMAM (4) impressed winning the Maiden as favourite and then was caught wide and met trouble after and forgiving. Peaks now with the blinkers on first time and should prove tough to beat. MI KERI PI (8) deserved the Maiden win and then didn’t have the best of it just missing this grade. Draws well and is right in it with Nolen going on. POONY (6) is getting ready for the jumps but is racing well on the flat and deserves consideration. SASSOON (7) will be around the mark again. SELECTIONS: #4 Dunmam has the upside to take this out.

Grafton: Race 2 @ 12:50 pm
Onset has early speed and should show out from Globite's Jayar at a modest pace. ONSET (4) raced on the pace last start and kept finding in the run home to finish 3rd over 1710m at this circuit. Has placed at this trip and after four runs back should be ready to peak now. ANACREON (10) went back to the tail of the field last time out over 1720m here before winding up with a powerful finish to pass them all except the winner. Still a maiden but is a placegetter at this trip and is certainly looking for more ground now. SHINAR (2) worked home well after overcoming interference before the corner to get up for 4th here recently over 1710m. New to this distance but is pretty one-paced and should run it out strongly. CHAMPAGNE VEGA (1) next in line, also on trial at the staying journey. SELECTIONS: #4 Onset is sure to get the trip so she looks the safest option.
Goulburn: Race 3 @ 1:08 pm
Either Art Of Dance or The Soloist to lead at a fair tempo. THE SOLOIST (5) did some work to find the lead after a slow start then boxed on gamely to be beaten just a length over 1400m at Newcastle recently. Raced here three times for three wins and with even luck today will maintain that impressive record. ART OF DANCE (2) showed pace but tired to finish well back over 1400m at the Kensington track last start. Has won at both visits to this circuit and looms as a danger coming back to country racing. The consistent YOUR WITNESS (1) had no luck in the straight when 4th at Newcastle over 1200m last time out. Drawn well and down in class today so comes under notice. DREAMING OF BISCAY (7) is bound to improve second up from a spell. SELECTIONS #5 The Soloist looks very hard to toss.
Ipswich: Race 3 @ 1:30pm
Expecting a genuine speed. PULL ANCHOR (9) is yet to miss a placing in her four career starts. Took up the lead at Toowoomba most recently and was only gunned down in the shadows. Trending the right way, this looks an ideal race for her. Clearly showing more than rivals at present and the Gollan polish should give punters that extra bit of confidence. VALADYIUM (11) reared at the start and was never a factor last time out. This is easier and with the blinkers going on should race more tractably. Danger. BROCKY (1) was solid after a wide run last start. Steps up in trip and should have admirers. RUELLA (10) has been thereabouts this time in. Twice placed at this track in April. Take seriously. SELECTIONS: Pull Anchor gets the nod.
Cranbourne: Race 4 @ 7:30pm
EXCLAIM (1) ran a good fresh when little went right and fitter for the slightly longer race. Hard to hold out. FIFTYONESTATES (8) rates well here fresh. Will be winding up strongly. SEMAJ (11) is fitter for two runs back and looks ready to win. Should be winding up strongly. KAJAANI (10) looks an each-way proposition resuming. Blinkers added for return. LUVME OR LEEVME (2) is close to a win and looks a top chance despite draw. SELECTIONS: Exclaim will be hard to hold out.
