Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on May 24.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Casino, Geelong, Cranbourne, Ipswich, Carnarvon & Canberra.
Cranbourne: Race 6 @ 8:30pm
TRISTANO (4) was good fresh and can only be further improved over the mile. Expected to take catching. SARKOZY (5) has drawn a nice alley and rates highly here. THOUGHTFUL HARMONY (6) is better than last start when tested over further and struggled on the heavy. Go close on previous form. NOTABLE CHOICE (10) is in superb form and although up in grade is nicely down in the weights. Go well. MISTER BELVEDERE (1) is a former UK galloper having first Australian run for new yard. Gelded since last time in. Can run a good race fresh and worth watching. SELECTIONS: Tristano will go close after a good return.

Canberra:Race 3 @ 1:10pm
VELVET AEROPLANE (1) placed on debut when expected to win and then was favourite again resuming at Wagga and just went under after being slow away and wide. Gets the rail and the in-form McDougal and can make amends. TEJORI (12) debuts off a 4L Canberra trial win. Looks to have plenty of ability and expect her to be right in it with a good ride from the tricky gate. SECRET WORK (5) draws even wider but looks primed for the debut following a Hawkesbury trial win. She’s also likely to exhibit early speed and has to be considered. MANDALONG SERA (2) impressed first up at the provincials and then blew the start by 5L at Warwick Farm. Gets the claim and should be right in it if she goes with them. SELECTIONS: With the race experience, #1 Velvet Aeroplane looks the one to be with.
Casino: Race 6 @ 2:40 pm
Doctor On Ice to lead at a strong clip. DOCTOR ON ICE (3) impressed when resuming from a 21-week spell last start, attacking the line with great purpose to be beaten just 0.7 lengths over 1200m at Murwillumbah. Very effective at this trip and historically holds the good form second up. JULIANNE'S WISH (12) was held up for a run but found clear running in time to finish over the top and score over 1006m at Grafton last time out, breaking her maiden at start 12. Strips fitter today and can go on with the job. LA RENARDE (2) has placed 3/5 when fresh and looms as a serious contender first up from a 196-day spell. Won a recent trial by a big space so is ready to run. LE BEAU RENARD (4) is worth another chance as he steps up in trip. SELECTIONS: Very happy to be on #3 Doctor On Ice.
Geelong: Race 6 @ 3:30pm
EVIL CRY (1) is improving with racing and well back in grade here. Looks one of the main dangers. JERSEY WHISTLER (6) goes very well second up. Rates among the top chances here. THEODOLITE (5) will give a sight. UNDERCLASS (11) is a last start winner and can measure up here. SELECTIONS: Evil Cry will go close.
Ipswich: Race 7 @ 4:05pm
Pumps and Secret Agent Man should enable a strong speed. This race falls away after scratchings. RAISE AN ARMY (5) goes in the sack pile if he manages to get beat today. $2 about a horse that's 1 from 24 isn't ideal but I suppose it says more about the opposition than it does himself. Has shown glimpses of ability from time to time. Gave a terrific sight in CL2 company last start, just getting run over late. Orman links back aboard. Tackles foreign ground going beyond the mile for the first time but all things point to it being no issues. Surely today is the day. CONSULAR (2) second-up could be an improver. Nicely treated by the claim and is bred to get a trip. LI'L RODGE (4) has each-way claims on best form. Fradd a key booking. SELECTIONS Raise An Army to end proceedings.
Carnarvon Race 4 @ 6:15pm
Gershom the likely leader. WRAPSODY (5) brought very strong Adelaide form to the first-up run for the new yard and didn’t have much luck as a well-supported favourite. She wins at best and expect sharp improvement. SURLEY HURLEY (3) made sharp improvement winning this grade 13 days ago defying the market. Only has to hold that to be right in the finish. GOOD MORNING (7) has had no luck the two runs back and has plenty up the sleeve. Gets the rail and 3kg claim and has to be considered. RUN FOR A REASON (8) resumes and is good that state. Gets the big claim and a bold run is on the cards. SELECTIONS: #5 Wrapsody gets her chance.
