Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on June 13.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Gosford, Lismore, Ballarat, Mackay & Pinjarra.
Ballarat: Race 2 @ 1:30pm
Can Star a likely leader. MAKTABBA (11) showed plenty in town in Open 2 grade the first campaign and resumes off a 4.5L trial win on the Pakenham synthetic. She will push forward with Kah up and is the one to beat. NOW'S HER TIME (6) runs along and is likely to come back improved. Missed a nose heavily-backed at Stawell the latest and Childs is a positive booking. VALENTINA STAR (12) is an improver who did enough on debut on the heavy to suggest he’s a hope with a good ride. CAN STAR (1) finds a touch harder, but is knocking on the door. SELECTIONS: Backing #11 Maktabba and she's one to follow.

Gosford: Race 4 @ 1:55pm
A strong tempo assured with Balmaceda and Dylan's Romance leading the pack. JAZZLAND (1) was scratched from Warwick Farm yesterday to be kept for this. Ran a cracker first up over the mile at the Farm then sat outside a hot tempo and dropped off at Rosehill last time in Saturday company over 1800m. Scored a couple of big wins at the provincials last prep and is close to finding that form again. WILD ABOUT HER (2) contested the same race as the top pick at Rosehill last time and whacked away into 4th place. Has won 2/3 at this trip and is peaking now after three runs back. SEEINGISBELIEVING (3) is flying this prep, with four top-two finishes from four runs. Took over before straightening and was dominant recently over 1600m at Scone. Untested beyond the mile but going too well to rule out. The consistent BALMACEDA (4) is sure to run a big race. SELECTIONS: #1 Jazzland has a bit of X-factor and is ready to win now.
Mackay: Race 4 @ 2:43pm
TEVYE (6) led throughout to win at this course and distance last start, his second success from his past three outings. This is a little tougher but he is in a purple patch and could repeat the dose. HEYINGTON (7) has been consistent with four successive top-four finishes since a win at this track and trip. He can be right in the finish. MIA HOST (10) comes off a last-start win at Thangool and has scored here twice before. IWATANI (3) went to the paddock off a win at this track and is a previous fresh winner. SELECTIONS: #6 Tevye to continue the good form and win again.
Lismore: Race 6 @ 3:35pm
Serious Dancer from a wide gate will cross to lead from China Plate. CHINA PLATE (2) appreciated the step up in trip last start when he took over before the corner then went on to record a tough win over 1600m at Coffs Harbour. Very fit now after three runs back and won't find this any harder. EIRA (8) didn't have the best of luck when a close 6th over 1400m at this track last time out. Suited by the slightly longer trip today and this assignment doesn't look quite as tough. SERIOUS DANCER (5) was a better run last start and is ready to show her best today fourth up from a spell. RAINS APLENTY (7) will improve sharply after a reasonable run when resuming recently. SELECTIONS: #2 China Plate to win again.
Pinjarra: Race 6 @ 5:30pm
Patristic can lead from Bantry. MORNING SONG (4) came to this trip first time at Belmont and missed a lip making a ratings spike. He keeps Pike and using the low gate can go right on with it for the hot yard. PATRISTIC (1) will roll over to the pace and didn’t have the best of it up to the 2000m last time off very strong Ascot form. Gets the claim and is worth another chance. ARMED AND READY (5) was a touch unlucky beaten a half length here off the big York win. Keeps improving and is chance using the rail. FLIRTY FRIARS (2) is also in the mix. SELECTIONS: #4 Morning Song should be winning.
