Threeandfourpence A Sharp Improver

3 minute read

An encouraging Singapore debut leaves the Cliff Brown trained Threeandfourpence well placed to fight out the finish in the seventh event this evening.

Formerly trained by Aidan O'Brien, Threeandfourpence displayed good ability in 10 starts, notching up two wins and two minor placings.

At his best at a mile, Threeandfourpence notably finished fourth in the Group 1 Irish 2,000 Guineas behind Romanised.

A strongly run affair, we got a good look at what was under the bonnet, with the son of War Front returning a Timeform rating of 111.

He repeated that figure at Naas before finishing fifth in Group 3 company behind Regal Reality.

Kicking off his Singapore career over 1200m, Threeandfourpence found the line well late to finish fifth behind Safeer.

Expected to improve sharply off the back of that, the booking of Michael Rodd is also a good push, overall he is striking at 19% (183 rides) when combined with the Brown stable.

From the inside draw he should be able to adopt a more prominent position and when assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he appears very well placed.

Threeandfourpence has won second up previously and while likely to still be better over further, he should be strong late.

The Mark Walker trained Beau Geste won well in his Singapore debut, before not disgraced in the Group 3 Silver Bowl [1400m] last start.

Getting a long way back in the feature, Beau Geste found the line well and is sure to appreciate the drop back in grade.

Beau Geste has placed third up previously and the engagement of Vlad Duric is a decent push.

From the inside draw he is expected to settle a lot closer to the speed and should be presented at the right time to make his challenge.

The Lee Freedman trained Jomo broke back into the winner's stall last start and while rising at the weights and losing Duric, that is offset with the booking of Iskander.

In his first attempt beyond 1200m he saw it out well and should give them all something to chase.

Of the rest the Steven Burridge trained Chalaza appears the next in line.

Good luck and happy punting.
