Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on August 29.
Four TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Wagga, Warrnambool, Rockhampton & Northam.
Warrnambool: Race 6 @ 4:00pm
Sir Chatalot up in trip is the most likely to lead. DOUBLE YOU TEE (1) won the 64 by a space resuming on the dry and then raced handy in stronger than this missing a nose on the heavy. He will use the rail and can bounce back. CASA DE LAGO (5) brought strong for to 80 in Adelaide and things didn’t work out. He has trialled sharply since and is feared. ZEZE ULATER (6) seeks the hat-trick and keeps improving. This is harder but he deserves plenty of consideration. ETNA (3) has won 2/3 second up and can make sharp improvement and John Allen sticks. SELECTIONS: Competitive, but #1 Double You Tee can win peaking off his best figure.

Rockhampton: Race 7 @ 4:55pm
BUFFY (9) is racing consistently. Close-up at Doomben last start in a CL4. Needs another win but is well placed to do so. If the speed is true she'll take plenty of holding out. KRUGER (4) meets this at peak fitness. Form of late has been mixed. Certainly competitive at best and the inside draw is a welcome bonus. CAVELLTON (1) has looked good in two wins this prep but the other two runs have only been plain. Strong rider aboard. Can bounce back. PERETTI (6) best of the remainder. SELECTIONS: Buffy for the win.
Wagga: Race 8 @ 5:20pm
Cha Cha Choix and City Rogue to establish a decent tempo. SPANISH POET (6) chalked-up his fifth minor placing from nine starts when resuming over 1100m at Wodonga last start. Stalked the lead then took over at the furlong only to be nailed close to home that day. That was his first placing in three first up runs so might be back better than before. All set to break through with the winkers going on. WAR DECK (10) raced fiercely so went to the front and was left a sitting duck when 4th over a mile at Wyong last time out. Better placed back to this trip off a little freshen-up. CITY ROGUE (3) battled hard and just missed (protested unsuccessfully) on debut recently over 1000m at Albury. Has plenty of scope for improvement and the extra 200m should suit. DESTINATION ROCKS (4) caught the eye first up at Albury and will be tough to hold out if the speed up front is genuine as expected. SELECTIONS: #6 Spanish Poet is ready to win.
Northam: Race 4 @ 5:25pm
Fairtore can cross and lead from Ava Express and Top Grade who also draws out. BOOTLEG RASCAL (1) deserves to win and Pike is reunited. He’s placed 3/5 on the gelding and this looks the right race. BRAVE CALL (2) missed a lip twice before failing her as an even-money shot. He always needs a good ride, but a bounce is on the cards. AVA EXPRESS (4) placed at long odds in the same contest making sharp improvement. He’s a genuine hope if he can hold that. GOLDVEIN (7) may be next best. SELECTIONS: #1 Bootleg Rascal has the figures and the Pike-Durrant linkage is hard to top.
