Sydney Specials: Randwick - 7th September 2019

3 minute read

Spring is officially here and if Saturday's racing doesn't get you excited, you are probably in the wrong game.

We kick off the day with one of strongest benchmark races you'll find, can't wait to see how the betting unfolds, no doubt there will be plenty of differing opinions.

While clearly very talented, I feel Pandemic is too short ($2.60) early doors, given the depth of his opposition.

My lean in the race would be towards Yao Dash, was backed off the boards on debut and saluted in very sharp figures at Canterbury.

You'd think he can only improve off that and given he does look to get the race run to suit, he should prove hard to get passed.

In the Group 3 Concorde Stakes [1000m], six of our best sprinters line up, though firmly in the camp of the polarising Nature Strip.

I feel you are either #TeamStrip or #TeamFirmlyAgainst, there is no middle ground when it comes to the speed machine.

He disappointed in the Doomben 10,000 prior to a break, however I feel the ear muffs worked too well there, as he was far too chilled.

They come off on Saturday and the 1000m is right in his wheelhouse.

Hard not to love the way he has been trialling and fresh is certainly best, with seven of his 10 wins coming off runs with 21 or more days between.

Best speed figures have him clearly ahead and he should take a power of beating.

In the eighth event, the John Thompson trained Dreamforce appears very well set up to sprint well fresh with the much hyped Te Akau Shark setting up the market.

While clearly a talent, always like to see these Kiwis do it here first before diving in at the short odds.

Dreamforce went to the paddock off a new career peak (2nd in the Doncaster) and has drawn to get  a lovely run on-speed with the much in-form Rawiller aboard.

Would prefer the track to be rattling, but nonetheless with three trials under his belt, he should be forward enough to be very competitive.

At his current each-way quote, he is a very easy bet to have as I don't see how he misses the placings.
