Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 14th September 2019

3 minute read

A pleasing firm deck faces punters on Saturday with a bumper nine race card set to take place at Rosehill, the fairest track in Sydney.

The Run To The Rose is the clear highlight and I am firmly in Exceedance's camp, what he has done in three starts is nothing short of top drawer.

Bold prediction: I think he'll win on Saturday, win the Golden Rose and win the Everest - not too much to ask.

It's no secret that the staying form in Victoria is better than NSW, largely due to the fact that I believe their training facilities away from the city are just better than what we have at the metropolitan tracks in Sydney.

As a result the majority of the horses are fitter/better set up, the races are stronger and hence the form is just better.

On Saturday we see dominant last start winner Dabiyr line up in the fourth event.

Only a recent addition to the Chris Waller stable, the ex-Dermot Weld trained galloper took a big step forward at Moonee Valley when giving them a galloping lesson over 2500m.

Two big pointers to this success, he got beyond 2000m and back onto a firm deck.

While visually impressive, the clock also backed up the strength of his performance and he is certainly a horse trending the right way.

He appears very well placed off the back of that effort and worth noting that 7/12 rivals are stepping up in trip, whereas he is much better set up dropping back in trip.

Quite adaptable, expect McDonald to be prominent early and from there he should prove very hard to beat.

In the eighth event the Team Hawkes trained Dyslexic presents well second up, following her eye catching effort in the Toy Show Quality.

A key sectional star, she should take good improvement and is sure to appreciate the step up in trip.

She's placed in 3/4 attempts on her home track and notably meets Mizzy 3.5kg better off at the weights.

No doubt a big watch on Fasika, but given Dyslexic has had the run under her belt, more than happy to back her each-way.

With the right run, she should prove hard to beat.
