Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on October 16.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Warwick Farm, Caulfield, Doomben, Ascot, Port Lincoln & Launceston.
Caulfield: Race 1 @ 1:20pm
SHARED AMBITION (2) was terrific at his Australian debut. Slow tempo but ripped home in strong closing splits and looks sure to make his mark in better races down under. EXEMPLAR (1) was good at Mornington and has a good base of racing at the trip under his belt. Could make that count. SPANISH POINT (6) and EGYPTIAN GOLD (5) are both rolling forward and coming off wins. Have to respect SELECTIONS: Shared Ambition is the one going places.

Warwick Farm: Race 5 @ 3:35pm
Calipari from the good gate should lead from Cardiff. CARDIFF (3) earned a trip to Melbourne after a strong win at Hawkesbury over 1000m two runs back. Tackled some smart types at Caulfield over the same trip and didn't get a lot of room in the straight, beaten just 1.4 lengths into 4th place. Huge chance dropping back to this grade. CALIPARI (7) raced handy and was game right to the line when a close 3rd over today's journey at Gosford recently. Probably leads and will give a great sight. TONY'S REWARD (2) returned from a six-month spell with an impressive win at Hawkesbury last start. Has now won 3/5 at this trip so hard to knock. SUPREME POLARITY (5) has a very good first up record so keep him in mind coming off a 25-week spell. SELECTIONS: #3 Cardiff brings the best form to the table - back him to win.
Doomben: Race 5 @ 5.15pm (AEDT)
ALPINE DANCER (2) looks ready to win. He is racing well having placed at his past two outings at Eagle Farm and will appreciate the return to Doomben having won three of four attempts here. Has a 50 per cent strike rate at the distance and gets the favours on the fence. SOLDIERS (8) may have found the jump in distance a bit quick last start but should be better prepared for the mile third up. Won at this course when resuming two back. Chance. CULLINGWORTH (4) deserves respect after recording a win and two seconds in three starts since joining Kris Lees. CONQUER THE STARS (3) is an exotic hope off a win here two back. SELECTIONS: Keen on #2 Alpine Dancer for the win.
Port Lincoln: Race 7 @ 6:05pm
Ruby’s Reward can cross over and lead from Gottabiton. AVORA SUN (3) is likely to sit handier today and was just nudged out resuming 10 days ago. She has more up the sleeve and a sharp second-up record. Is sure to take beating. GOTTABITON (2) looked in need of it resuming and also has more to give. He draws handier and is feared. ROSIE LOUISE (10) hit the line well resuming, but the wide draw makes it harder today. DOWNS AFTER DARK (6) is also second up and may be best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Looks the right race for #3 Avora Sun.
Launceston Race 3 @ 7:45pm
Luca Bratzi and Hezalite can run them along from Schazem. LUCA BRATZI (1) is an ex Victorian resuming for the new yard and wins at best. He’s had a trial warmer and Newitt’s booking suggest he’s ready to go. Just needs a good ride. NEEDS AMORE (6) draws out but brings good figures for the resumption. Callow rides for Brunton and is sure to give the mare every chance. XAARZAM (2) resumes off a Maiden win in a strong form race. He will go better then the recent trial suggests. SCHAZEM (8) will use the low gate and should go close again with the 3kg claim. SELECTIONS: #1 Luca Bratzi has a clear edge at best and look for a positive market profile closer to post-time.
