Singapore race goers were treated to a few very promising types over the weekend, headed by the Cliff Brown trained Inferno.
Unbeaten in his maiden preparation, Inferno burst onto the scene in July spacing his rivals over 1200m, before backing it up just 12 days later, when showcasing his elite turn of foot in the Group 2 Golden Horseshoe [1200m].
Ridden by Michael Rodd, Inferno settled towards midfield, but was forced to travel wide throughout.
Not one to panic, Rodd kept him balanced and slowly edged his way closer entering the straight.
Continuing his wide run into the straight, Inferno travelled boldly before cut loose inside the final 300m.
Quickly ambling up to the lead inside the 200m, Inferno put the race away in a few strides, drawing clear to score by two lengths.
Eased down late, he did it quite comfortably and was immediately put away by Brown.
Allotted 56.5kg on Sunday, he stepped out for the first time as a 3YO and was forced to do it the hard way giving weight away to his elder rivals.
Drawn towards the outside, Inferno began well and pressed on to settle midfield.
Edging closer approaching the 800m, Rodd found himself three-wide in the running line, but did have cover.
Continuing his wide run into the straight, Rodd ambled up to the lead with Inferno still under a good hold.
Cut loose inside the 300m, Inferno did want to lay in under pressure, but certainly had them covered.
Finding his rhythm over the final 200m, Inferno went straight as a gun barrel and raced away to score by 2.5L.
Fellow 3YO Big Hearted worked home well to finish second, but Inferno is clearly on another level.
Rated 88 by Timeform prior to a break, Inferno improved slightly on Sunday and is now rated 89p.
The ease at which he has won all three starts suggests there is more to come and while losing stable star Debt Agent [Old Name: Debt Collector], Brown already has a readymade replacement, who could be even better.
