Flemington: Race 7 @ 3.00pm

Should see a true tempo early with the likes of Master Of Reality, Mirage Dancer and Finche all quickly prominent and Magic Wand could work forward from out wide with Il Paradiso. CONSTANTINOPLE (19) got stopped in his tracks more than once in the Caulfield Cup. We have to go back to 2008 to find a Melbourne Cup winner coming through the Caulfield cousin but that trend will turn and Constantinople looks the right sort of horse to turn it. Going to relish the more open spaces of Flemington and promises to stay two miles well. York run prior to coming across was terrific. IL PARADISO (20) is another European three-year-old with a promising profile. Worked hard in the Leger at Doncaster but effort was sound and sharp connections send him here. SURPRISE BABY (18) is a natural stayer and things have gone to plan for him. He can provide a stern home defence. DOWNDRAFT (14) stormed into the picture on Saturday and can run well again on the back of that while MAGIC WAND (15) hasn't done much winning but her Cox Plate run was very solid and it would be no shock to see her run well back to handicap conditions. SELECTION: #19 Constantinople has the star power to win. Multiples with 20, 18, 14, 15.

Randwick: Race 4 @ 1:40pm
Small and tactical affair with Agent Pippa expected to take it up. AGENT PIPPA (3) won very well on-speed at Randwick last start, returning a new career peak. Took a good step forward there and only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again. Clearly the one to beat. SOUTHERN LAD (4) mixed his form last time in, but is certainly more than capable when right and looms as a major threat. AYLMERTON (5) is going a lot better than what it appears on paper and he cannot be taken lightly, while GLENALL (1) also holds solid claims back to Sydney. SELECTION: Very keen on #3 Agent Pippa.

Morphettville: Race 8 @ 3.20pm (AEDT)
Tough race especially with the main chances drawn out. BELZELLA (3) is a talented mare who is Gr3 placed in Melbourne and only start in this state was an easy win. Go close despite draw. ORBOST (5) just missed fresh and can go one better despite the draw. MAGESTIC DIVA (6) has drawn out but expected to go close on recent form. COSMIC AWARD (9) resumes after tackling stakes grade before a spell. Won only try fresh. Go well here. ALASKAN JADE (1) was nicely weighted and an each way chance. SELECTION: Belzella has the class.

Eagle Farm: Race 7 @ 5.07pm (AEDT)
THE BLACK TIDE (1) is a lightly raced mare making good progress. She fought on strongly when beaten just half a length into second at Doomben last start. That followed a strong win Gold Coast. Her ratings suggest she is up to winning this. LASHONI (6) ran on well to score a win at Doomben last start so the extra 100m should suit. Deserved that win after placing at her previous two. Can challenge. Debut winner KEREMA MORI (4) has scored two Ipswich wins from her past three starts. Respect. CUBAN MINT (12) is racing well and is in the mix. SELECTION: #1 The Black Tide for the win.

In an exciting finish where the first five horses finished within a length, the Australian-bred Vow And Declare scored a game victory in a solid staying performance. Having his first run since his good second in the Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m), he began well from his difficult barrier (21) and Craig Williams elected to go forward, gradually crossing to the front before settling in an ideal spot, third on the rails. He went through on the rails to challenge on turning for home and then dug deep in the closing stages to score by a head. Prince Of Arran raced in fifth place, got into clear running on straightening, went to third at the 300m and kept fighting really well for a close third but was promoted to second after a successful protest (fourth v second). Il Paradiso settled near last after being slowly away from his wide barrier (17) and was 21st nearing the home turn. He improved closer to the rails on straightening, took a split at the 200m, went to fourth shortly afterwards and continued that run in very restricted room in the latter stages to be fourth past the post. It was a very good performance, deserving of better luck. He was promoted to third, following a successful protest. Master Of Reality raced outside the leader (Twilight Payment) going at a steady tempo. He took the lead at the home turn and was then fighting back gamely before ducking in the latter stages. He was second past the post but was relegated to fourth after a protest. Surprise Baby settled in 19th place, tracked up (wide with cover) at the home turn, and kept running on strongly, widest of all, to finish (0.9 lengths) fifth in a very good performance. Mer De Glace was slowly away and settled in 13th place, improved (deep) between runners at the home turn, finally got into clear running at the 200m and then ran on really well for (1.2 lengths) sixth. Finche settled in a good spot, eighth (one off the rails) before improving (wide) from the 800m. He was in a challenging position on straightening and then kept battling on well for (1.4 lengths) seventh. Last year's winner Cross Counter settled in 14th place, improved between runners at the 600m, got a split at the 300m and kept running on strongly under his top weight (57.5kg) for (1.6 lengths) eighth.
