Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on November 7.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Hawkesbury, Flemington, Pakenham, Gatton & Gawler.
Flemington: Race 8 @ 5:50pm
Gamay can use one to be handy with Vegas Jewel coming across from the deep. Ocean Miss and Apicus are roughies that can roll the dice early. MOONLIGHT MAID (2) ran really well up to 2040m in the Vase. Closed well and that form worked out nicely through the winner who ran well in the Derby. In-form stable's Derby chance improved as expected up in trip and she looks on track to do much the same. MIAMI BOUND (1) and VEGAS JEWEL (4) cleared out in the Wakeful and that is always a key reference for this. Looks a strong edition this year and that pair ran to a level that goes mighty close. Draw probably favours Miami Bound to win that battle again. GAMAY (3) saw off Vegas Jewel in the Ethereal and barrier one gives her a soft run on speed. Think that quartet hold all the aces. SELECTIONS: Moonlight Maid can topple the Wakeful fillies.

Gawler: Race 4 @ 4:50pm
Jayeffkay can run them along from Lord Rosenthal. CLASSY JOE (5) won this grade and venue up to this trip and then was plainer at the Bridge. Gets a handy gate and Clark first time and a bounce is on the cards. COBBERS MATE (10) came back in grade and just missed here a month ago. That reads well and no surprise if he repeats. OLYMPIC ACADEMY (1) came off city races to place at Mt Gambier. He’s suited again and is on an 8-day return. LORD ROSENTHAL (9) is a hope forgetting the latest. AMMO LOCO (3) comes off a nice Maiden win and is a lightly-raced improver drawn well. SELECTIONS: A couple on the program appeal, but are too short to tip. #5 Classy Joe looks a solid each way chance at the $5.0.
Pakenham: Race 7 @ 5:30pm
Our Foxwedge and Tugga War will be prominent from the jump. A good contest. SWEET ELVIRA (9) is a former Kiwi resuming off a win for the Stokes yard and the form reads alright. She’s trialled well and the claim is handy. The winkers are applied and expect her to be ready to go. TUGGA WAR (12) didn’t handle the heavy track at Bairnsdale but the two before read extra well. Has been freshened and looks a hope with luck from the wide gate. STAR SEARCH (8) draws out and although he hasn’t won for a while, there was a lot to like about the building form prior to the wide run the latest. PROVAN (6) resumes off a win and has to be kept very safe. SELECTIONS: This is a very tough program and hard to nail any good things. #7 SWEET ELVIRA interests. She’s been kept safe in early markets and looks a bet if the money moves her way closer to post time.
Hawkesbury: Race 7 @ 5:35pm
Taikomochi to run them along at a solid clip. TAIKOMOCHI (6) is a talented and lightly raced six-year-old first up from a 25-week spell. Has only missed a place once in four first up runs and has won 2/3 at the mile. Plenty of trial work has gone into this gelding so expect him to be fit enough to run a huge race. DELECTATION GIRL (4) had been under-performing this prep but put it together last start when she stormed to the front and looked the winner only to be nailed on the line in the G3 Angst over 1600m at Randwick. Three-time G3 winner in the USA and has a great chance to break her Aussie duck today. ADMIRE WINNER (8) is the big query. Japanese import for Chris Waller who hasn't raced since December 2017. Placed at G2 and G3 level in Japan which is outstanding form for a race of this calibre. MISS REDOBLE (13) won a strong race at Port Macquarie last start and is in with an each-way chance. SELECTIONS: #6 Taikomochi is at nice each-way odds and is a very appealing bet on that basis.
Gatton: Race 7 @ 6:30pm AEDT
Consular from the middle of the line to press forward at an even tempo. SAUTE (2) was scratched from the first race to be kept for this shorter assignment. Worked home fairly to finish midfield over 1350m at Doomben last start. Down substantially in grade and is very fit now so looks the testing material. CONSULAR (3) is first up since failing over 2150m at Ipswich eight weeks ago. Capable of a big run while fresh over this trip - has three placings from five 1400m runs. DE BANDIT VEGA (1) won two in a row to kick off this prep then missed a place at Clifton recently over 1580m. Has won 2/4 at seven furlongs so worth another chance dropping back in distance. HIGHER LOVE (4) caught the eye late when resuming over 1100m last start. Can play a role stepping out to this journey. SELECTIONS: Finish the day with a confident win bet on #2 Saute.
