Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at TAB meetings for December 9.
Wellington: Race 2 @ 2.05pm
A Krupt Pick and Soldier Poy to go forward. BRUNELA (9) started favourite over 1300m at Narromine last start when third up from a spell, making good late ground but finding one better. Building up to a win and over a slightly longer trip from gate one today this looks her chance. STICKS 'N' STONES (12) made it three minor placings on the trot when she came with a big finish to get up for 2nd over this distance at Warren last time out. Normally races on the speed so that run was queried by Stewards. Big chance to break through. A KRUPT PICK (1) shared the lead into the lane and never stopped trying when beaten just 0.4 lengths over the mile at Narromine recently. Racing very well this prep and is sure to take some catching. SOLDIER POY (7) freshened up for a new stable is a market watch. SELECTION: #9 Brunela finds the right race.

Gatton: Race 3 @ 3.30pm (AEDT)
Iberian Lace to lead comfortably. FURY OF THE STORM (1) placed first up at Dalby over 1200m then got a long way back but closed well to finish 4th over the same trip at Roma last start. Blinkers come off for the step up to 1400m. Drawn well and ready to peak. DREAMACE (3) lacked the turn of foot required when down the track over 1100m at the Gold Coast last time out. Lightly raced colt who will be far more effective over this trip. DEPENDABLE NITE (6) improved sharply last start over this distance at Ballina, racing handy then forcing the issue late only to miss by half a length. Has only raced twice and is open to plenty of improvement. STEADY STAR (4) is fitter for two runs back and should run well. SELECTION: This looks a nice race for #1 Fury Of The Storm.
Tuncurry: Race 6 @ 4:20pm
Early speed across the barriers with Little Wonder prominent. XIAOLI'S YING (6) placed at Newcastle the only run last campaign and then led again and was much too good for the Maidens at Quirindi. Has the speed to manage the wide gate and can win again with Bullock sticking. FIREFLY POPPY (7) is also a first up Maiden winner and also did it easily. She's a genuine hope building on that. LITTLE WONDER (5) led and won the Maiden at Scone and that also reads well. FULL OF SPIRIT (2) would be right in it at best and can show more third-up. SELECTION: Xiaoli's Ying has the ability to win again in a good contest.
