Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Kensington, Caulfield, Doomben, Ascot & Launceston (night).

Doomben: Race 7 @ 4.55pm AEDT

Kavak goes fast and is expected to lead. RATHLIN (2) laid in over the final furlong which cost certain victory last start, beaten a whisker over 1000m at Ballarat in the Clockwise Classic. Brought north by Maher/Eustace for the Magic Millions. Might be too smart for this field. KAVAK (1) is the danger. Hit the front in the straight but couldn't hold off a tidy winner over 900m at the Gold Coast last time out. That run came off a 53-day break so will improve. WAR MEMORIAL (5) is a Fastnet Rock debutante for Team Snowden, and is a full-brother to the emerging Eleven Eleven. Trialling well so does have some of the family talent. COUNT THE COIN (3) was safely held on debut and will struggle against some smart types this afternoon. SELECTIONS: #2 Rathlin to win.

Kensington: Race 2 @ 2:55pm

Indigenous should lead without too much bother. INDIGENOUS (6) led and gave a good kick but was worn down close to home over this course and distance last start. Very fit now after two runs and will be extremely hard to catch this time. ELECTRIC GIRL (4) got into all sorts of bother in the straight last time and should have finished closer in the same race as Indigenous. Progressive filly who can close the 3.3 lengths gap on the top pick substantially with a little more luck. ROME (3) chased hard but just missed when resuming over 1200m at Gosford a fortnight ago. Not living up to expectations but over an extra furlong today should be very competitive. TRACY MAY (8) did her best work late when resuming last start and is in the mix over a slightly longer trip today. SELECTIONS: #6 Indigenous to lead all the way.

Caulfield: Race 7 @ 4:05pm

Mystical Rose can lead and Iowa Hawkeye won’t be far away. MR STYLISH (7) chased solidly to place as favourite and then came to the mile and delivered by 7L in Maiden grade. Draws out, but looks to have plenty of upside and no surprise if he immediately takes the next step. IOWA HAWKEYE (5) won resuming and has just been nudged out the two since in the grade. Peaks today with the handy claim and is feared. SWISS HERO (4) rates well enough, but will needs a good ride. DUNNDUBHAN (3) gets a low gate and claim and also deserves consideration. SELECTIONS: #7 Mr Stylish is promising.

Launceston: Race 8 @ 9:30pm

Not a big field but Liffeybeau and Apriano will ensure a strong tempo. GEE GEE SECONDOVER (1) had won three from four this prep before finishing a game 4th in the Listed Newmarket over 1200m at this track last start. Rarely out of the money at this track or distance - expect he will bounce back to winning form. I REMEMBER YOU (4) has not raced for 273 days but does have a fine record of two wins and two placings from six first up runs. Placed in a recent trial so looks ready to run well. LIFFEYBEAU (2) led the Newmarket field into the straight recently but was overwhelmed and finished 3.5 lengths off the winner. Fitter for that run and the step back to 1100m will make him very hard to catch. GEE GEE LANETT (5) has never missed a place in nine runs at this distance, including four wins. Big chance to turn her form around. SELECTIONS: #1 Gee Gee Secondover to be too classy.

Rathlin followed his second in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat on November 23 when having his second race start, with a good win here. He was ridden patiently by Luke Currie and settled in last place in the four-runner field before moving up well nearing the home turn. He got to the front halfway down the straight and then went on to score comfortably. The Chris Munce-trained Kavak showed good early pace and soon went to the front. He then led the field until well into the home straight and then held on for second in a sound effort. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt War Memorial, who was having his first start, raced in third place on the rails, got along the inner on straightening and then battled on quite well for third. Count The Coin raced outside the leader to the home turn before tiring to finish last.
