Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at TAB meetings for December 23.

Bathurst: Race 4 @ 3.40pm.

A real lack of early pace on paper. MONT GENEP (6) had to do a bit of work in the early stages then couldn't quicken in the straight when runner-up as odds-on favourite over 1000m at Wellington last start. Starting to become costly but this looks a very thin race so she should break through with even luck in running. AEECEE DYNASTY (5) ran a handy 4th at Gosford two runs back over 1200m but was pretty feeble at the end of 1300m at Kembla last time. Worth another chance dropping back to this trip in a far weaker maiden. RAFFLE (3) is a first starter with four barrier trials going back to December 2018. Shows ability and will have enough race smarts to acquit herself well from an ideal barrier. RIDERS INTHE STAND (4) is another debutante with claims after a couple of strong recent trials. SELECTION: #6 Mont Genep should be winning

Tamworth: Race 6 @ 5.15pm

Bullet Lad will surge across from a wide gate to lead at a solid gallop. MAYAMAN (2) stepped up sharply from 1200m to the mile at Narromine last time and was just second up from a spell when a fast-finishing 4th after spotting the leaders a big start. Will tighten right up following that outing. Sure to prove hard to hold out. ELAS JET (1) staged a big form reversal to register a narrow maiden win over this course and distance recently. Lightly raced four-year-old from the Lees camp who is open to plenty of improvement. OPINIONS (4) is fitter for recent racing and needs the mile at this stage of the campaign. Last start Moree winner BULLET LAD (5) has strong claims again despite a wide gate. SELECTION: #2 Mayaman is ready to win.
