The Donna Logan trained The Brotherhood has been rock solid in two starts to this point and appears poised to break through at Kranji on New Year’s Day.
Due to line up in the second event, The Brotherhood steps up to 1200m for the first time, having lined up over 1000m at both starts previously.
Sent out well in the marked on debut (2-1), The Brotherhood really caught the eye after beginning awkwardly.
While unable to wear down the eventual winner, he displayed good ability and backed that up at his next start when again only going down narrowly.
Although favourite backers haven't been on the right side of him, he appears very well placed in Wednesday's event.
He's drawn to take control and the booking of Marc Lerner is a decent push.
When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he holds a clear edge with a big watch on the debutant The Wild Bunch.
It displayed good ability at its sole public trial and has drawn to receive all the favours on the inside.
The time out of the trial wasn't anything flash (1:03.11), however he wouldn't have to be anything flash to defeat the rest away from The Brotherhood.
Do concede it's never easy making the jump from 1000m to 1200m, however being by So You Think, The Brotherhood is bred to relish the step up in trip and looks well suited in this assignment.
Always need your fair share of luck, but suspect Lerner will take luck out of the equation and try and make a good thing of it.
If able to get a few cheap sectionals out in front, The Brotherhood should prove very hard to get past in the straight.
Of the raced brigade the Leslie Khoo trained Eunos Ave Three appears the next in line.
Although safely held at his last two starts, he is trending the right way and this does appear a fairly shallow race.
He too has drawn well and is expected to make his presence felt.
Of the rest the Takaoka trained Poroshiri appears the next in line.
Good luck and Happy New Year!
