Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at TAB meetings for February 24.

Bathurst: Race 5 @ 4.30pm

Skipper Joe or Alcatran to lead at a modest tempo. JUST JESSIE (7) travelled a bit closer to the speed last start over 1108m at this track and battled on gamely to finish a very close 3rd. Placed at her only try at 1300m and that was her peak rating last prep. Primed to win at her third run back. SKIPPER JOE (6) is racing well without winning. There on the bend but tired near home to just miss a place over 1408m here last time. Big threat back slightly in distance. ADSUM (2) was held up for a run until the 300m mark then flashed home late to grab 2nd over this journey at Dubbo recently. Has now placed 5/6 at 1300m - solid each-way prospects. ALCATRAN (1) has switched stables and comes off a two-month let-up. Loves this track and can win without surprising. SELECTION: This looks a very nice race for #7 Just Jessie.

Queanbeyan: Race 6 @ 4:10pm
The two top selections can make the speed. PIERRO ROSE (4) resumes of a city trial win for a top Sydney yard. Has been racing in better company and she will take plenty of beating in this line-up. REBEL LILLY (6) led and won the Maiden by a space and then just missed at Tumut. Draws low with a claim and can be right in the finish. RIVER OF GOLD (3) is up from Albury for her resumption. Will race over further, but gets a claim and the rail, and may be more forward this time around. PAHRULI (2) will be better for the first-up run in stronger than Canberra. May need one more, but has ability and has to be kept well onside with the handy 3kg claim. SELECTION: #4 Pierro Rose looks ready to go and the filly should be too good if she is.
