Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on March 18.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Kensington, Sandown, Doomben, Ascot, Gawler & Launceston.
Sandown: Race 4 @ 4:40pm
Not sure who leads but a number capable. MAKTABBA (5) was back to her best missing a nose at Flemington back to a 64. Will be better for that and she gets the advantage of the rail and Oliver replacing the apprentice. Looks very well-in. DEFIANT DANCER (3) brings strong form to resumption including a close up effort in Listed grade. Goes fresh and has won a trial. Expect a bold return. OCEANIC DRIFT (2) won again 12 days ago as favourite and keeps improving. Gets the claim and looks capable of progressing. LANKAN STAR (1) presents fresh off a string of Group and Listed races and will have come on. Goes first-up and is a market watch. SELECTIONS: # 5 Maktabba looks a bet on a competitive program.

Randwick-Kensington: Race 2 @ 2:10pm
Very few on-pacers lining up - just a muddling tempo likely. SIGNIFICANCE (1) raced on the speed but had no answer to the winner when a game 2nd, with a 1.3 length margin to 3rd, over 1400m at Kembla first up. Finished 4th in a Listed race over the Randwick mile second up last prep. Back in good order so from an inside gate over a bit more ground is a winning chance. TOFFEE TONGUE (6) did her best work late when runner-up over this course and distance last time out. Very fit filly who can easily go one better. DANCING GIDGET (2) contested the same race as Toffee Tongue recently and was strong through the line, just 0.8 lengths behind today's rival. Could be the big improver with blinkers on for the first time. RATHVILLY MISS (9) got the mile without any bother last start so has to be respected. SELECTIONS: #1 Significance to win.
Gawler: Race 3 @ 3:10pm
Club Double may elect to lead from Whirlwind Romance. WHIRLWIND ROMANCE (9) led and was just nutted at Balaklava and will be better for it. High stable striker Holder gets on today and should be getting the filly home. CLUB DOUBLE (2) got very close at Murray Bridge and can improve again. In good hands and is drawn to get every advantage and should go close. LISETTE (5) returned to racing in good order and the 1500m suits. Will race over further again, but looks a decent chance. RACY BELLA (7) showed a bit on debut and can build on that keeping the hot apprentice’s claim. SELECTIONS: In the top yard #9 Whirlwind Romance makes strong appeal.
Launceston: Race 6 @ 8:30pm
Kel's Star to roll forward and lead from My Kingdom and Rhode Away at a solid clip. RHODE AWAY (2) took the short cuts then stormed away for a 5.3 lengths win over 2100m at this track last start. Tackles a similar race this evening - clearly the one to beat again. MY KINGDOM (1) lacked the turn of foot required but battled on gamely for 4th over 1600m at Hobart last time out. Looking for this trip now. KEL'S STAR (6) raced near the speed but was no match for Rhode Away here recently. Hard to see her turning the tables but worth an each-way ticket. A TAD MORE (4) made good ground at the end of a mile last time - expect her to be running on again. SELECTIONS: Impossible to go past #2 Rhode Away.
