Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on April 1.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Rosehill, Sandown, Sunshine Coast, Ascot, Murray Bridge & Launceston.
Rosehill: Race 5 @ 3:45pm
No obvious leader but with the big field there is sure to be some early pressure with a very short run to the first corner. ON THE WHITE TURF (9) ate up the ground late to grab 3rd over 1600m at Warwick Farm last start. Useful mare who was just behind the placings a couple of times last prep at black-type level. Perfectly placed out to this trip fourth up. NEW ARRANGEMENT (8) finished 10th but was beaten less than 3 lengths when resuming in the same race as the top selection at the Farm last time out. Lightly raced gelding who will improve sharply second up. LADY CUVEE (12) made good late ground out wide to get up for 4th when returning from a 137-day break over 1400m at the Kensington track four weeks ago. Placed last prep over today's course and distance in Saturday company so has the ability to test this lineup. YONKERS (7) narrowly missed out on the hat trick last start. Drawn awkwardly but racing too well to dismiss. SELECTIONS: This looks ideal for #9 On The White Turf. Each-way at better than $5.00 in early markets looks a great bet.

Murray Bridge: Race 2 @ 2.25pm (AEDT)
Always a mad dash over the 900m course. CELINE (9) is the one to beat returning from a 19-week spell. Was about the mark at all three runs in the maiden campaign despite a couple of ordinary draws. Finds a nice race to kick off and maps beautifully from gate three. ACERTICUS (6) on debut for the McEvoys is a clear threat. By Not A Single Doubt from a Spartacus mare with three winners from as many foals to race. Two recent trials should have him ready to run well. LOFTY TYCOON (4) has been just behind the placegetters at both runs this prep, most recently over today's course and distance. Will be peaking today. NORTHERN FACTOR (13) improved sharply to fill a minor placing over this course and distance last start. Sure to be about the money again. SELECTIONS: Keen on #9 Celine.
Sunshine Coast: Race 4 @ 2.50pm (AEDT)
CITY SMART (1) is closing in on a win. Has hit the line well in both starts since a spell, finishing runner up when resuming before coming from last for fourth last time. The longer trip suits. Ready to strike. STEEL PIER (2) is another looking for the mile. He showed improvement at Doomben last time and will be ready to peak third up. Can threaten. JERRY ZANDA (8) will find this easier than his resuming outing at Doomben so can do better. WURNIC (13) has his hoof on the till after finishing runner up at his past two. Respect. QIJI BELLEZZA (12) is progressing and has claims. SELECTIONS: #1 City Smart is suited up to the mile. Backing to win.
Launceston: Race 6 @ 8:55pm
Weekend Whisky and The Master Speed can add speed in a small field. BALEARIC (1) performed well last start when third at this track over 1420m on a soft track. Was held up over the closing stages. Fitter third up. Capable of going close. The scratching of stablemate Cranbrook can also be considered a positive lead. ROUGH ROAD (5) was a winner at this track last start as the favourite, and has been in solid form with three wins and two places from nine outings this preparation. Can measure up again. SHEWEARSTHEPANTS (3) is a mare in form. Warrants respect from barrier 2. THE MASTER SPEED (2) drops back sharply in grade after being outclassed in the Mowbray Stakes. SELECTIONS: Balearic for the win.
