Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on April 8.
Seven TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Warwick Farm, Sandown, Benalla, Sunshine Coast, Murray Bridge, Geraldton & Darwin.
Sandown: Race 7 @ 4:30pm
Plenty of pacesetters engaged. AUSSIE NUGGET (4) peaks in this. His return at Geelong was terrific when rattling home to miss by a nose. Went to another level when reaching this trip last campaign. He's got gears at the end of a middle distance trip. A real winner and class should prevail late in the race. MUSWELLBROOK (6) tries very hard. Winning record is shocking but he presents off a solid effort at MV. Always an each-way chance. ROCK DOVE (8) hasn't drawn a gate this time in. Hampered at a vital stage here last start. Looking for this trip and the blinkers will sharpen her nicely. Will have admirers. LIVING THE DREAM (2) was in the market when disappointing last start. Melham goes on and he could be worth another chance. SELECTIONS: Aussie Nugget. Backing to win.

Warwick Farm: Race 5 @ 3:00pm
First Reading from a wide gate can cross and lead - not a great deal of early speed on paper. MY DEMETRA (9) returned from an eight-month spell with an eye-catching 2nd over 1100m at the Kensington track last start. Scored a big win at Kembla second up last prep so has a nice sense of timing. Should be handy in the run from the good gate and looks sure to be there at the finish. TRICKY GAL (4) is a promising mare resuming following a 24-week spell. Won four from six in the maiden prep including a convincing win at Newcastle to kick off. Two recent trials will have her tuned up to run well. SAKURA (1) is another talented mare back from a spell. Closed last prep with back-to-back wins at this track. Trialling well and will be very competitive despite the big weight. UNGUARDED (14) rattled home to grab 3rd over 1100m at the Kensington track recently. Will be hard to hold out over the slightly longer trip today. SELECTIONS: #9 My Demetra is perfectly placed second up. Looks an each-way bet to nothing at better than $5.00 in early markets.
Benalla: Race 5 @ 4:05pm
Unique Goldy may run them along. SALOME (7) brought a string of near misses to Caulfield and was outgraded and long odds. This is the easiest he’s raced in for a long time and he clearly rates to win for a leading yard. LIBERTY SONG (1) just missed at Swan Hill running his best race for a while. Will be better for that and won’t be far away with the handy 3kg claim on a 9-day return. MISS MARKLE (6) is a last start winner in stronger and will be better for it. Will push forward with a claim and is well in the mix. UNSHACKLED (3) deserved the Wodonga win 11 days ago at this level and can be in the finish with the handy 3kg claim. SELECTIONS: #7 Salome should have an edge.
Darwin: Race 5 @ 5:20pm
Most race handy and are capable of leading. ARDIZZONE (1) was backed-again deserving the big 54 win 12 days ago for the leading yard. Raced favourite in much stronger the one before and can keep things rolling using the rail. Stablemate COUNT OF ESSEX (6) found the above to good in that contest but came home well and the near-miss prior rates highly. He can be right in the finish. WARFACE (3) was much better the latest back to this grade and is well in the mix with a repeat of that. SELECTIONS: #1 Ardizzone should win again.
Murray Bridge: Race 8 @ 5:35pm
Plenty of on-pacers capable of leading. BALAABEL (2) is a promising Listed performer resuming for the leading yard. Goes well fresh and three back was beaten a short half head on the Hill Smith Stakes. Needs to manage the wide gate but looks to have a bit on the field. AL MA BELLE (6) has won two of the last three and keeps improving. Will go well but the above should have her measure. WITH PLEASURE (13) runs a long and just missed the latest in easier. Darws well and won't be far away with the weight drop. BAD MOON RISING (8) will use the rail and has some ability. Comes back in trip and Holder's booking interests. SELECTIONS: #2 Balaabel should be winning.
Tokyo City Keiba (Ohi): Race 11 @ 9:05pm
COPANO KICKING (9) resumes. Multiple Group 3 winner who wrapped up his last prep with a narrow second in the Negishi Stakes at Tokyo. Has a very good fresh up record and rates to be in the finish. YAMANIN IMPRIME (4) resumes. Won two of her three runs last prep including the Ladies Classic at Urawa prior to a spell. JUSTIN (1) was a most impressive winner last time over 1200m at Nakayama Dirt. Well drawn and appeals on best figures. SABUNO JUNIOR (8) holds each way appeal. Freshened since making late ground here behind Trovao on Feb 26. CANDLE GLASS (3) the best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Copano Kicking a cut above these on best figures. Back accordingly.
