Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on April 22.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Canterbury, Bendigo, Doomben, Ascot, Mt Gambier & Darwin.
Bendigo: Race 5 @ 3:20pm
Reine Happy may lead a moderate tempo from the low draw. EVENING GLORY (8) is promising and was okay first-up, after a slow off and a wide run after. The two efforts at the back of the last campaign read extra-well for this and he can win for a leading yard with Zahra taking over. INTELLE (13) missed a nose here on resumption and is back further improved. He will use the handy gate and should be right in the finish. BLENDERS EDITION (5) resumes and is capable. Has won fresh, but it’s been a long time between drinks. Oliver’s booking is a decent push and keep the gelding well onside. HAMSLETTE (11) has been knocking on the door but has to manage the outside gate. Has to go in, all the same. SELECTIONS: The shorties Races 2-4 should all be winning. There’s a bit more value about #8 Evening Glory who can win this and go on.

Doomben Race 6 @ 2:15pm
Come In Spinner and Iamican may be the pair to run them along. PULL ANCHOR (10) had dual accepted for Race 5, but looked much better placed here. She’s been knocking on the door and finally gets a low gate. Comes out of strong form races and looks very hard to beat for the leading yard. STAYING BLACK (1) brings a string of placings to peak. Has to come back in trip, but gets the blinkers again and the near-miss two back at Eagle Farm reads particularly well. IAMICAN (9) won a trial and was close up resuming, and then pulled up with an issue here in much stronger and had good support. In a form yard and a bounce is on the cards off the brief freshen. PUMPKIN DIAMOND (6) resumes and is likely to come back improved. Put in at a price. SELECTIONS: #10 Pull Anchor looks to have an edge.
Darwin: Race 3 @ 4:15pm
Not clear-cut the lead. DEFENCE ATTORNEY (1) is a former Victorian resuming for the Halter yard. He’s sharp fresh and right up to this. Will take plenty of beating in easier grade. DUNKIRK (2) won easily resuming at Maiden level and then came hard the latest and didn't enjoy the best of luck. Comes back in class and will go close using the rail. KARMONAARON (3) comes to peak off the placings and won’t be far away. GO WALLY (5) won the BM54 by a space and gets the chance to go on. SELECTIONS: #1 Defence Attorney should be winning if he takes to the sand.
Canterbury: Race 8 @ 4:55pm
Good early speed from Beach Baby and Zedward. JAZETTE (13) returned from a lengthy spell over this distance at Warwick Farm last start and did a tremendous job to finish a very close 4th, leading until the dying stages. Lifted her figure significantly second up last prep when narrowly defeated - great chance is she manages to do the same again. The consistent WARFARE (9) registered a deserved win over this trip at Kembla last time out, winding up from midfield to hit the lead at the 150m then fighting off late challenges. Freshened up and a leading hope again. BEACH BABY (5) had a month between runs when a close 3rd over 1300m at Warwick Farm recently. Has won 2/3 at this trip and with that run under the belt will be very hard to reel in. DUNBRODY POWER (4) is going well and is ready to peak after three runs back from a spell. SELECTIONS: #13 Jazette each-way in a very open betting race.
