Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 17.
Parkes: Race 7 @ 3:50pm
Assault'N'Bathory can lead the Cup field from Mackellar's Love and Austin. ASSAULT'N'BATHORY (2) was backed into favourite and blitzed the 70 graders at Canberra from the front. She reached a new level of form in that and will take a stack of beating with the weight drop and 2x winning rider Costin taking over from the apprentice. STEAMIN' (3) has returned to racing in good order and wasn't far away in town the latest. Gets a low gate and 3x winning rider and is a chance with the extra fitness. A MAGIC ZARIZ (1) rates well off the Open grade win at Narromine, and will run it right out. SELECTION: Hard to go past Assault'N'Bathory given the authority of the Canberra win.

Ipswich: Race 5 @ 1:00pm
Greyt Intentions and Phoenix Shadows may be the pair to run them along. VALET (8) comes to peak for the leading yard and is busting to win. He will push forward back in trip off the close-up Doomben effort. GREYT INTENTIONS (3) draws low and will run along again. Has placed the last two much improved, but is running out of chances. FI FI NO FUSS (9) was slow off an did a good job beaten 1.5L the latest and can sit handier today. She's in the mix. WHY WOULDN'T YOU (5) resumes for the new yard and is likely to be improved. SELECTION: Very keen on #8 Valet.
Strathalbyn: Race 2 @ 1:50pm
Celine can lead from Gucci Guy. GUCCI GUY (2) improved again missing a whisker here and then was okay racing in much stronger in town. Peaks now and can win with Holder sticking. CELINE (3) led and won the Maiden by a space as a firm favourite. Gets the handy claim and has more up the sleeve. CRYPTO CURRENCY (1) resumes and two back was a strong Maiden winner in the south east. Is likely to come back better. MISS CATASTROPHI (4) won the Maiden at Bordertown and can build on that. SELECTION: Like #2 Gucci Guy to win.
Queanbeayan: Race 5 @ 2:57pm
Boys Day Out may lead from Café Terrace. UPPER HOUSE (2) has come into his own this campaign and won again at Wagga finishing stoutly. He will race handy and has a weight drop and only has to manage the track to go close. TRIBUNA (7) won comfortably here three back and had no luck the latest. Back from the mile won't bother and he will be very competitive with a good ride. MADDIE'S THE BOSS (6) comes to peak and was better the latest. The shorter trip won't bother her either and she has a good record here. TAG AND RELEASE (4) wasn't fancied first-up on the heavy track and is up to this at best. You'd think the local yard will have him ready and O'Hara will give him every chance on the pace. SELECTION: #2 Upper House can win again.
