Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on July 14.
Four TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Tuesday at Ballina, Wagga, Seymour & Townsville.
Seymour: Race 9 @ 4:30pm
Good early speed with Marine Belle and Royal Tyke candidates to lead. MOUNTAIN IBIS (1) brought strong form from the initial campaign and after being back and deep was too good for the Maidens on resumption. He gets the rail today that he will use. He is promising and can win again for the form yard with Egan going on. ROYAL TYKE (7) deserved the win this grade and then found on better after. He races handy and looks a chance on the 8-day return. PEARL PRINCESS (4) resumes for a top yard seeking the hat-trick. He has the speed to manage the tricky gate and has to be kept very safe. PEMBROKE CASTLE (5) resumes for the new yard bringing Queensland form. He may need one, but is worth keeping onside. SELECTIONS: Expecting #1 Mountain Ibis to go right on with it.

Townsville Race 1 @ 12:35pm
Just A Love Song can lead a steady tempo from the low gate. CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN (3) missed a whisker on debut at Rockhampton and gets the in-form Pengelly for the first time. She draws well and with the extra fitness is the one they have to beat. JUST A LOVE SONG (2) missed a lip here from the speed and then raced favourite at Cairns and snapped before the 200m and dropped out. That was too bad to be true and expect him to stick on better today. MYSTERY 'N' MAGIC (9) improved here 10 days ago running into the placings. He always needs a good ride but won't be far away in a bit easier. CRACKER ESSGEE (5) gets a 3kg claim and has been gelded since the debut run. Expect him to go better. SELECTIONS: #3 Champaign At Dawn looks well-placed to go one better.
Ballina: Race 6 @ 3:55pm
Damit and In Waves to go forward but it won't be a breakneck speed. SHACKLES (7) tackled a Bm80 over 2200m at Doomben last start and found that a bit rich. Made up a stack of ground to finish less than a length from the winner in a Bm65 over 2070m at Doomben two starts ago in what is a better guide to his prospects. Placed 3/6 at this trip and back in a country Class 3 on his favoured rain-affected surface looks well placed to return to form. TAKE TEA (2) stoked up late and was beaten under 2 lengths over 1350m at Ipswich last time out. Very fit after three runs back and might be looking for the mile now. DAMIT (3) was third up last start when an even 4th at Grafton over 1400m. New to this trip but looks up to the task. IN WAVES (4) couldn't quicken at the end of 1400m last start. Is a winner at this distance so can improve. SELECTIONS: #7 Shackles is well-placed to score.
Wagga: Race 7 @ 4:50pm
No early pace on paper. MADDIE'S THE BOSS (10) has been racing well without winning. Made up a stack of ground in the straight to clock-in 2nd at Nowra last start on a soft track over 1400m. Rated highly when a close 2nd over this trip at Goulburn two runs back. Great chance to finally break through. BLAZING ZONE (2) has won three in a row at or around this trip, including a similar race to this 23 days ago in heavy going. Huge chance to add to the picket fence despite getting up in the weights now. RIVERBEND CHIEF (7) staged a form reversal to score over 1300m here recently, coming from a long way back on the turn to take over close to home. Has won twice at the mile and loves Wagga so no reason he cannot get the job done again. DOMINICA ROSE (11) is a last start Sunshine Coast winner lining up for a new stable today. Worth keeping tabs on despite dropping sharply in distance. SELECTIONS: #10 Maddie's The Boss is good value to topple the short-priced favourite.
