Sydney Specials: Randwick Kensington - 18th July 2020

3 minute read

Bit of a tricky card at Saturday, a few obvious favourites coupled with a few lowly affairs.

I think both Tailleur and Le Gai Soleil are hard to beat, you don't have to be Einstein to work that one out, but I couldn't tell you either are good bets at their current quotes.

The scratching of Cristal Breeze unfortunately knocks off our price about Handspun, however more than happy to stick with her.

An eye catcher at both runs back to start this preparation, she proceeded to take a good step forward last start, when far too good at Randwick over 1300m.

Returning a new career peak, she is back better than ever and while up in grade, she appears very well treated at the weights.

Both Spencer and Man Of Peace ensure a solid tempo up front, which should give her every chance.

Always need a touch of luck with backmarkers, but if she gets clear air, she looks to good for them.

Generally any horse that has more than 500 days off, they are a terrible betting proposition.

I haven't ran up the numbers in a while, but I remember doing it a few years back and I've tried to avoid them ever since.

But like most rules, there are exceptions, hopefully that being Rosina Kojonup on Saturday.

Not seen since finishing a close fifth in the 2018 Gosford Guineas [1200m], she returns from arthroscopic surgery to her near fore knee (568 day break)

The little sister to She Will Reign, Rosina Kojonup has won two of her four career starts and has displayed good ability in the process.

I didn't even realise she was back until I watched her trial last week (I was watching it for Noble Boy - bless him) and I put her straight in my blackbook.

They rarely trial any better and I love the set up for her on Saturday.

Speed machines Spaceboy and Witherspoon should fly up front with Rosina Kojonup getting a lovely suck run just behind the leaders.

This looks to be the sweet spot and while she may lack a bit of match practice, she should get every chance.

Intrigued to see what the market does with her, either way I'm happy to be holding a ticket, she is certainly good enough.
